Mothers are one of the sweetest gifts from God to us. They are so unique and special in their own loving ways. Mothers show true sacrifice and are there for their children from the moment of conception through the rest of their lives.  They are there as a support to all of the family 24/7 and their job never ends. Some working Moms are the bread winners for their family in addition, and at the end of the day they return home to face their primary, and most important job of rearing their children.

Christian Moms have THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB ….Nurturing tiny humans for the Glory of Christ!

God created all things for his glory.  Motherhood is about nurturing a precious little soul’s life. God has created and equipped women to nurture the life HE created.  Rearing and nurturing a child, means intense agape love, prayer, and sacrifice both for the physical and spiritual development of that child.

Jesus refers to a Mother hen loving and comforting her chicks in “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge...” and many other scriptural references of a mother hen.

In these photos below of Mother hens, we see the protective love that these hens have to protect their baby chicks at all costs…

Jesus’ sacrifice shields His beloved ‘children’ and saves those who follow Him.  The metaphor of the Mother Hen protecting her chicks, shows us a powerful image of His sacrificial LOVE for us!   Like the mother hen, Christ yearns to protect us all.

Christ gathers us under HIS WINGS to save us from predators.

Jesus’ desire to gather Jerusalem’s children as a hen gathers her chicks resonates throughout God’s word.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will hover over Jerusalem and protect it like a bird protecting its nest. He will defend and save the city; he will pass over it and rescue it.

“Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions.

Much like the mother hen, we can find peace and safety in CHRIST

Like the hen that brings her chicks together, Christ focuses on “gathering His children” .  He teaches all people to follow Him, to accept the gospel message and repent of their sins & spread the message of the plan of salvation to all of the world.

A Godly Mother  “loves the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength ,  and she teaches her children by demonstrating that love, and sacrificing for them.

A Godly Mother depends on God’s love and power

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

 “Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.

A Godly Mother spends much time in prayer and staying in God’s Word, allowing God to give her what she needs to endure, and the scriptures to encourage her with all of the ups and downs of parenting.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

God calls mothers to nurture, love, grow, teach, shape beautiful little humans…to HIM.    To turn their little faces and souls towards JESUS, to lead them to the cross, and to pray that God will lead them down the path of righteousness, where He can protect them forever!

Praise God for Godly Mothers!

“She gets up while it is still night;  she provides food for her family.”

She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come;
but when her baby is born
she forgets the anguish because of her joy
that a child is born into the world.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was an incredible example of a Mother who trusted in God all the way!

Mary trusted in God during all of her uncertainties and fears from the moment the angel Gabriel told her she would conceive Jesus through the Holy Spirit.  Although she was afraid as we read in , and knew her circumstances and the potential fallout of being a virgin and unwed mother were likely to bring turbulence, she decided to trust God’s divine plan for her life. She surrendered to God’s will.   Mary proclaims, “I am the Lord’s servant, and tells Gabriel, “May your word to me be fulfilled.”   Mary’s desire to serve God and surrender was greater than her fears.

Mary continued to Praise God in the midst of her trials

“Mary’s Song of Praise” and she praises God for His faithfulness in her life, and for all future generations.   Praising God in the good times, and the bad, are how we show our LOVE for Him.

“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the child you will bear!
But why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
“Blessed is she who has believed
that what the LORD has said to her will be accomplished.

Mary’s suffering drew her closer to God.

Mary witnessed Jesus endure intense ridicule, opposition, torture and ultimately His crucifixion.  She carried a heavy burden and responsibility, wanting the best for her Son, yet she endured great pain and suffered watching JESUS suffer.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you;
Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged.”

Mary trusted God in the unknown.

Although Mary’s path was unknown, she surrendered and trusted God every step of the way.   She was unsure of how God was going to use her, but she trusted in HIS sovereignty and knew He had a plan for her life.

I am the Lord’s servant

Mary surrendered to God’s will

Mary surrendered Jesus over to God and God’s perfect plan.  Surrendering is the way most Moms cope, by praying for their children and allowing God to watch over them.   Mary knew that God’s will was imperative.   She trusted in HIS POWER.  When there was a shortage of wine at the wedding in Cana, she said
Do whatever he tells you.”

Several of our Mothers here at Trumbull have shared their thoughts about being a Mom.  Below are a few of their heartfelt words and praise to God!   What a blessing you all are to your children, your families and to this church family.

ASHLEY STEPHENS

“My children have taught me invaluable lessons about being a mom, redefining the very essence of love the moment I held them in my arms. In their joyful laughter and curious eyes, I got to discover the beauty of patience, kindness, and compassion,……. qualities I once prayed for and now am forced to embody daily, They remind me to find joy in the simplest moments……like a shared smile, a gentle touch, or a spontaneous dance in the living room. Through their presence, I’ve learned that love is more than a feeling; it’s an action, a commitment, and a deep connection that enriches my life in ways I never imagined possible. I’m a better human because of them. God knows exactly what to give you to grow you. “

JENNA JONES

“Being a mom to Emiliana has helped me understand the true nature of God’s love…it’s unconditional and all consuming. She has taught me about sacrifice & that I can’t be selfish. Even on the hardest of my days, she still needs me, and I have to push through to make sure she is happy. One smile or laugh can brighten any day. She has also reminded me of the importance of maintaining a child-like spirit of fearlessness, innocence, and simply just being in the present moment. We tend to loose our innocence through life experiences and it’s refreshing to see her so trusting and unafraid. It inspires me to take my walls down a little more again not only with people, but especially with God. She has also taught me how fast time flies and that we have to soak up all the good memories as they are happening because we blink, another year has passed, and everything changes day to day without us even realizing it until we look back.   Wishing every mama a Happy Mother’s Day! “

JESSICA LENNON

“God has blessed me in so many ways as a Mom. Each day, I’m blessed to be reminded of how awesome God truly is through Ronin’s perspective of the world–full of endless discoveries. The beauty of a child’s innocence can’t be matched, and there is so much joy that can be found in the little things in life like a warm greeting from a stranger passing by, the distinct pattern of someone’s breathe, or the sweet song of churping birds outside a window. Too often, I find myself caught up in the chaos of my daily routine that I forget the extradinary beauty God stitched into the fabric of the world and my life. When Ronin highlights these unique gems, I can pause, remember, appreciate, and give thanks to God for his unwavering love, strategic craftsmanship, and beautiful blessings. “

BIANCA CARTER

“Lessons I have learned thus far as a mother:

*Patience-a virtue that is ever developing and often tested.

*Flexibility- being lenient with “the plan.”

*Unconditional love- which deepens with every challenge and triumph.

*Self-care-nurturing myself, so I can continue to show up for my children. “

KRISTEN WILSON

“Being a Mom has taught me to not take things so seriously, to have fun and when you ask God for patience, he will test your patience! “

Kristen is not in this photo below because she is taking the picture!  Doesn’t that happen a lot that Moms are not in the pictures because they are taking the pictures of their family?   DJ’s new haircut!

Our daughter JODY McMULLEN

“Motherhood is so much better and so much harder than I ever could have imagined.  There are moments where the magic of childhood takes my breath away and yet other days, I find myself praying for patience while cleaning crayon marks off of the refrigerator.  It’s so easy to feel like I’m messing it all up or doing it wrong, but in the moments I doubt my ability, I remember God works best in our weaknesses.  I can trust that if I’m pointing my kids towards the Lord, He will continue to refine me and my children through His grace.”

MAY WE KEEP SINGING PRAISES TO GOD:

GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

God will make a way
when there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see.
He will make a way for me!

He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side,
With Love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way!

By a roadway in the wilderness,
He will lead me.
Rivers in the desert will I see.
Heaven and Earth will fade,
But His word will still remain,
He will do something new today!

God will make a way,
when there seems to be no way.
He works in ways,
we cannot see,
He will make a way for me!

He will be my guide,
Hold me closely to His side,
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way!
He will make a way!

With Love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way!

Thanks for all of the sacrifices Mothers make for their families, for others and for this church.

We love and  appreciate you all!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE!
