Passing down our faith

Passing down our faith

07/ 19 /2025
Good morning church family,

Congratulations to Jin Lin on her baptism last night!   The angels in heaven are rejoicing and we all PRAISE GOD!
Jin has been part of our church family now for several years and continues to grow in the LORD.   We love you Jin and we welcome you to our church family..the family of GOD!

GIVING THANKS:
Thanks to all who have so generously donated supplies for TRCC, our food pantry, and Spooner House.   You’ve all been so generous and God is glorified!
Thanks to all from Trumbull who volunteered at TRCC the week before last:
Patrick Keller served in several capacities and wore many hats (administrator, bible class teacher, kitchen crew, etc).

Nadine and Kimberly Keller ran the kitchen and did a fantastic job!  Nadine even got Patrick to help make meatballs!
Nadine makes the BEST MEATBALLS..ask her what her secret ingredient is!
Tammie Carey was the Nurse on staff for the week!  She exhibited EXTREME PATIENCE with all of the children and helped out considerably in the kitchen.  The children loved Nurse Tammie who was a huge blessing!
Tori Saracino was Activities Director which was not an easy job.   The kids loved her and she had many fun things planned!  Tori also has served as a Counselor and is a true asset to Tidal River Christian Camp, letting her light SHINE!
Paula was blessed to teach 8 to 11 year olds and they learned about the apostle Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians…1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
The campers LOVE singing at the green benches and the skits that close up the week on Friday night’s closing ceremony!
Here is a photo of the CAMP COUNSELORS who work hard staying with the children assigned to their cabin and are with them 24-7.  They are often up late, reassuring and comforting children who are home-sick,  they are there to teach, encourage,  make sure they are protected and safe, they are surrogate parents offering compassion and patience in all regards.  These young adults are truly  amazing!
Kevon Turner and Logan Nunez were at camp this past week.   Thanks to both for their dedication and commitment to TRCC!
The week at camp is SPIRIT FILLED,GOD FOCUSED,  and everyone leaves feeling edified like they have tasted a piece of Heaven!   If you haven’t sent your children to TRCC  camp, please consider it for next year!

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Continued prayers for Bob & JoAnne’s grandson Leo Benevento , who had many tests done at Yale this past week. The diagnosis is severe aplastic anemia.  The most effective course of treatment needs to be a PERFECT donor match for a bone marrow transplant.   This will be a long road for Leo and the family.  His platelets were very low yesterday and dropped from a few days ago.  They are putting a port in on Tuesday and he will need to endure three infusions a week, wearing a mask, no contact sports, etc.  Fervent prayers for Leo, and all of the family as they wait on God to guide them every step of the way.
The court date for Levi is slated for Thursday July 24.  They’ve come this far, and appreciate everyone’s prayers for this last step which is coming up!  Thank you all for your prayers for Levi, we will continue to pray for everything to go smoothly this Thursday!
Prayers for Luis who needs to work nights on a temporary schedule over the next few weeks as his department is having new construction done during the day.  Prayers for Jennifer as well, as she holds down the fort.
Gregg Belcher whom we have been praying for after he came into contact with voltage is doing better each day. Barb Wangerin provided this update on Gregg.
“Gregg made big advances today! They are continuing to wean him off of sedation so although he napped a lot, he was very alert in between, making good eye contact and responding to verbal prompts and shaking his head yes or no, carefully and slowly, in response to questions.  He needs a couple of hours after wound care to get back into responsive mode, but they are maintaining good pain management.  They took him off continuous dialysis this evening and he will begin intermittent treatments tomorrow if he does well overnight.  He also got a new mask for the  ventilator which seems to be easier on his face and lips. They are still holding off on the tracheotomy and planning to do it before his surgery on Tuesday.  They are hoping the skin flap they prepared during the last surgery will be ready to wrap over the shoulder area.”

Tammie Carey’s Husband Roderick and son Trenton were in a car accident involving a semi truck on Wednesday.  Thank God they are ok, just shaken and sore.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:

VBS has been a highlight for this congregation for many years.  It requires a lot of preparation, teamwork, dedication and commitment.   God is glorified through all of the efforts as children are taught God’s Word in a fun setting!
We are grateful for Derin and Kristen Wilson who lead this every year.     They put a lot of planning into this event!
If you are not comfortable with teaching that’s ok since there are PLENTY of other things that you can help with!
TODAY is a craft day scheduled at the building at 1:00 p.m.
Friday, July 24th we need helpers to set up tents outside and the bible stations.  2 more tents are needed.
Saturday morning of July 26th helpers are encouraged to be at the building for set up.
After VBS is over, anyone willing to come to help clean up…take down the tents, discard things not needed, clean the kitchen,  bathrooms, etc.  are all welcomed and greatly appreciated.  Thanks to all for supporting this evangelistic effort.

YOUNG ADULTS:

Here are pictures of the Young Adults trip to Mystic last weekend.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”   Psalm 19:1

Killer whales (otherwise known as orcas) are known for actively teaching their young, particularly in hunting and communication.  Females, including mothers, grandmothers, and aunts, play a crucial role in transferring knowledge and skills to the younger generation. This teaching includes hunting techniques, communication (including dialects), and navigating social dynamics within the pod.
Killer whales are one of only a handful of animals that actively teach their young, and it’s the females that take on this duty, ensuring the survival of their families.
Mothers and grandmothers and aunts take a lot of time teaching their offspring exactly how to do these complex behaviors.
Killer whale culture relies on this transfer of knowledge from generation to generation.
We serve an AWESOME GOD!

Why do we support TRCC,  VBS and offer bible classes each Sunday for children?

We must be intentional about passing down our Faith, which is the one thing that is essential for all to get to heaven.  Passing down our Faith to our children is critical in order for this next and future generations to grow in wisdom and stature in the LORD.  Teaching our children and grand-children, biblical principles should be a priority in our lives!
2 Timothy 1:5  we read about Timothy whose faith was influenced by his mother Eunice & grandmother Lois.  They raised him with a strong foundation in the scriptures,  and a faith which impressed the apostle Paul and the local church leaders.  Timothy had a good reputation and godly character.
A sincere and humble faith which is passed down through generations, influences children early on in their spiritual journey.

When FAITH is a priority, we get to teach children that GOD CREATED THE WORLD – Genesis 1:1

That God CREATED us in HIS IMAGE

We teach children that GOD LOVES US and that we need to LOVE GOD first and foremost!
Deuteronomy 6:5

This passage forms the core of the “Shema,” a Jewish prayer, and calls for loving God with all one’s heart, soul, and might, and for teaching these commandments to our children.  It emphasizes the importance of making God’s word a constant presence in the home and in daily life.
We get to teach children that JESUS is GOD’S SON, who became the sacrifice for all sin.  There is no other way to get to the FATHER, but by HIM.

We get to teach children that they have incredible value and are God’s workmanship, created before time began!  Ephesians 2:10

We get to teach children that  God will never give up on them if they remain faithful.   To have the hope of glory!  Romans 8:18

Psalm 78:4-7 speaks of God’s mighty acts and commands, urging the older generation to share these with their children and grandchildren. The goal is to ensure that future generations know God’s works and place their trust in Him.

This verse speaks of a covenant where God’s words and Spirit will remain with believers and their descendants for generations to come. This passage highlights the enduring nature of God’s word and the hope that faith will continue to be passed down through the generations.
All of these verses, along with many others in the Bible, point to the vital role that we all play in ensuring that FAITH is NOT LOST, but rather continues to be a source of HOPE, GUIDANCE, and STRENGTH for Future generations!

AT TIDAL RIVER CHRISTIAN CAMP  SINGING HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE DAY!  The kids sing in their cabins, they sing at the green benches, they sing at Chapel, and they LOVE the camp songs!
We are commanded to KEEP SINGING as well!
This is one of the camp songs below:
“SAID I WASN’T GONNG SING ABOUT IT BUT I, CAN’T KEEP IT TO MYSELF!”
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself)
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself!)
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
What the LORD has done for me!  (for me!)
You oughta been there,
When He saved my soul,
You oughta been there,
When He wrote my name on the roll!
Well I’ll keep walking and I’ll keep talking, and I’ll keep singing and I’ll keep shouting
What the LORD has done for me! (for me!)
Said I wasn’t gonna sing about it, but I, can’t keep it to myself
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself)
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself!)
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
What the LORD has done for me!  (for me!)

You oughta been there,
When He saved my soul,
You oughta been there,
When He wrote my name on the roll!
Well I’ll keep walking and I’ll keep talking, and I’ll keep singing and I’ll keep shouting
What the LORD has done for me! (for me!)

Said I wasn’t gonna preach about it, but I, couldn’t keep it to myself
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself)
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself!)
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
What the LORD has done for me!  (for me!)

You oughta been there,
When He saved my soul,
You oughta been there,
When He wrote my name on the roll!
Well I’ll keep walking and I’ll keep talking, and I’ll keep singing and I’ll keep shouting
What the LORD has done for me! (for me!)

Said I wasn’t gonna shout about it, but I, couldn’t keep it to myself.
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself)
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself!)
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
What the LORD has done for me!  (for me!)

I said I wasn’t gonna pray about it, but I, couldn’t keep it to myself.
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself)
No I, (Can’t keep it to myself!)
Said I wasn’t going to tell anybody about it but I, can’t keep it to myself,
What the LORD has done for me!  (for me!)

You oughta been there,
When He saved my soul,
You oughta been there,
When He wrote my name on the roll!
I’ll keep walking and I’ll keep talking, and I’ll keep singing and I’ll keep shouting
What the LORD has done for me! (for me!)

CHILDREN ARE THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!
Matthew 18:1-4

There are so many things we can do to teach future generations about
JESUS & HIS GLORY:
Make a difference in a child’s life and sponsor someone who can’t afford to go to Tidal River Christian Camp next year, or sign up to volunteer in some way.
Sign up to help with our VBS this year …set up,  clean up,  encourage the kids and their parents.  Welcome visitors.
Pass out fliers to grocery stores, local businesses, call friends and neighbors to invite them.
Teamwork….Harmony…..serving…..teaching….evangelism….all glorify GOD.
Thank GOD for our FAITH and that we can PASS IT DOWN!  The FAITH of the next generation is worth everything for the world is crying out for it.  Their eternal salvation and souls are longing for it!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!

In Him,
Bruce & Paula
