GIVING THANKS:
    *    Karen Ohrenberger is doing well.  She got 18 staples removed and although is still in a bit of discomfort, she had a good report from the Neurosurgeon and thankfully has no impairment.  Praise God and thanks to all for your prayers!  Leah and Ray will be driving down to help them out so prayers for their upcoming trip.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
    *    We've been praying for Brother Roland Toyer in Trinidad who is a close brother  in Christ to our sister Beulah.  A stroke left him unable to speak and he is now on a feeding tube. Prayers for God's will to prevail for his condition and for his wife who is his caregiver. Prayers for her spiritual health and their peace at this difficult time. 
    *    Bill Keckler whom we've been praying for passed away recently, leaving his wife Beth and son Hayden.  They are close friends of Ron & Lisa's.  
    *    Jay & Flo requested continued prayers for their close friends Skip and Doreen French.  Skip is home from the hospital however they both have covid and are quite sick.
    *    Continued prayers for Mildred as she approaches her 96th birthday.  If anyone has interest in sending her a birthday card her address is :  1546 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT. 06514

BENEVOLENCE:
*    Our food pantry at the building could use some re-stocking.  If anyone has interest in providing non-perishable food, pasta, soups, etc. Please leave it in a bag marked TRUMBULL CHURCH FOOD PANTRY.  
  
*    Spooner House can take food deliveries 24-7!  A large delivery of food was dropped off this past weekend.  If you have food to donate, the address is 30 Todd Road, Shelton, CT  Phone # (203)-225-0453.  Call ahead if you would like to make a drop-off.  They are beyond grateful since they function only by the donations of area congregations.

OCTOBER EVENTS:

*    THIS MORNING… there will be a Men's Breakfast – October 21st at 9:00 a.m. at the church building! 


*    TOMORROW AFTER WORSHIP..there will be a Young Adults Bible Study at 1:30 p.m. and Apple Picking Fellowship to follow.  Contact Zach and Tori for details.
*    The next Tuesday morning Bible studies will be on October 31st at 9:30 a.m. watch for the zoom link.  Lisa and Mary Lou are leading this great study on the book of James. 


*    Trunk or Treating – Saturday October 28th at 6:30 at the church building.  Thanks to Derin & Kristen for hosting this event.  Be thinking about decorating your trunk and have FUN!    Stay tuned for more details.  

*    Next Pot Luck meal – Sunday October 29th right after worship!

NOVEMBER EVENTS:

*    LADIES NIGHT OUT – Friday November 10th at 6:00 p.m.. Old Towne Restaurant in Trumbull.  Please RSVP to Lisa Saracino if you are able to come.  So far there are 15 ladies coming which is great news!
*    On Saturday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the church building Nadine Keller will be leading the ladies Bible study “Remember who HE IS” as we study the book of Exodus.  

We are so incredibly blessed to have God's Word help us know His Character…to Know Who He is!

The GOD we Serve has attributes that are clearly defined in the scriptures. 

The book of Habakkuk is the 8th book of the 12 minor prophets of the Bible.  The major theme of Habakkuk is trying to grow from a faith of perplexity and doubt, to the height of absolute TRUST in God.  
Habakkuk consistently reminds himself of who God is:  Holy, Righteous, Just, Eternal, etc.  His Covenant-keeping God is the Rock that anchors him during the ever-shifting circumstances of life.  He addresses God with heartfelt questions, and God answers him.  
Habakkuk 1:12-13 
O LORD, are you not from everlasting?  

My God, my Holy One, we will not die. 

O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgement; 

O Rock, you have ordained them to punish.   

Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; 

you cannot tolerate wrong. 

Why then do you tolerate the treacherous?  

Why are you silent when the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?
God answers Habakkuk in Chapter 2 vs. 2 
“Then the LORD replied:
Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets

so that a herald may run with it. 

For the revelation awaits an appointed time; 

it speaks of the end and will not prove false;

Though it linger, wait for it;

it will certainly come and will not delay. 

See, he is puffed up;His desires are not upright – 

but the righteous will live by his faith.
God assures Habakkuk that the wicked will get theirs.  To trust in His plan.
In a world full of uncertainty, we can place our trust in a faithful God, who is true to His character. 

GOD IS INFINITE.   He is self-existing and without origin.

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17  

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure” Psalm 147:5 

Dr. Adrian Rogers wrote about the self-existence of God: “The name Jehovah is used some 6,800 times in the Bible. It is the personal covenant name of Israel's God. In the King James Version of the Bible, it's translated Lord God. Not only does it speak of God's strength, but also it speaks of the sovereignty of God and the goodness of God. The root of this name means “self-existing,” one who never came into being, and one who always will be. When Moses asked God, “Who shall I tell Pharaoh has sent me?” God said, “I AM THAT I AM.” Jehovah or  Yahweh is the most intensely sacred name to Jewish scribes and many will not even pronounce the name. When possible, they use another name.”

GOD IS IMMUTABLE.  He never changes.

“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” Malachi 3:6

God's attributes are the same from before the beginning of time into eternity. His character never changes, His plans do not change, His promises do not change.    God is dependable! Our trust in him is therefore a confident trust, for we know that he will not, indeed cannot, change.  God who promised us eternal life is immutable that we may rest assured that nothing, not trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword shall separate us from the Love  of Christ. It is because “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever that neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, not even powers, height, depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 8:35-39. 

 
God IS SELF-SUFFICIENT  He possesses infinite riches of being, wisdom, goodness, and power in and of himself .
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please”  Isaiah 46:9-10

For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.” John 5:26

Because God is self-sufficient, we can go to him to satisfy all our needs. We never have to worry about his never-ending well of goodness, peace, mercy and grace. 
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” Ephesians 3:20
GOD IS OMNIPOTENT (All powerful) , OMNISCIENT (All knowing) and OMNIPRESENT(Always, everywhere)

Omni means “all,”      and potens means “powerful.” 
OMNISCIENT – He knows everything
OMNIPOTENT – God is able and powerful to do anything he wills without any effort on his part. He has unlimited power.

OMNIPRESENT – God is everywhere at the same time.  His divine presence encompasses the whole of the Universe.  
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.” Psalm 33:6
Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. If he comes along and confines you in prison and convenes a court, who can oppose him? Surely he recognizes deceivers; and when he sees evil, does he not take note?” Job 11:7-11
“I am the LORD and there is no other.  I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; 
I, the LORD; do all these things.  You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it. I, the LORD, have created it.”  Isaiah 45:6-8
GOD IS “ALMIGHTY”  in the scriptures, describing Him as the One who possesses all power and authority

Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”  Jeremiah 32:17

GOD IS HOLY

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty”  Revelation 4:8
Therefore you are to be perfect, as your Heavenly Father is perfect”  Matthew 5:48
God can't lie.
God can't tolerate sin.
God can't save someone who does not have a penitent heart, thus the need for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
GOD IS WISE.  HE IS Full of Perfect Unchanging Wisdom.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple” Psalm 19:7
“Great is our LORD, and of great power; his understanding is infinite.”  Psalm 17:5
“For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding” Proverbs 2:6
GOD IS FAITHFUL

The fact that God is infinitely, unchangingly faithful means that he never forgets anything, never fails to do anything he has set out to do, never changes his mind or takes back a promise. And His faithfulness pours out from His love, so we can trust Paul’s word that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.” – Deuteronomy 7:9
if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13 

GOD IS GOOD

GOD IS JUST

The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.” – Deuteronomy 32:4





GOD IS MERCIFUL

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.”  Romans 9:15-16

The LORD is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.” Psalm 145:8 
The message of the gospel is that of God’s goodness and mercy embodied in His grace.  “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

GOD IS LOVE

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”  1 John 4:7-8



“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.  ”  John 3:16



GOD IS GLORY

In these trying times, we can rest and take comfort in the relationship we have with our Almighty, Loving, Merciful, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, All-Present, Forgiving, and Just God.  
We can find Peace  and JOY  knowing that we are covered by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ.  We can then share the gospel message with all the world.

We may never fully grasp the Deity of God and all of His attributes, until we stand before Him at the end of time.  But, we have a beautiful opportunity NOW to study His Word,  to grow in Christ,  and motivate others to learn God's Word.   To grow in Christ and have an UNSHAKABLE FAITH!

This church offers many bible studies throughout the week and adult and children's bible classes on Sunday mornings.  Worship at 11:00 a.m.

Let us soak up the Word of God,  where He can reveal Himself more clearly to us, and help us come closer to Him.
