The book of Luke records the entire account of Jesus's life.  It is a beautiful and powerful summary of His life from beginning, to end.  Luke is filled with wisdom about Jesus's purpose;  His power;  His teachings; His death, and resurrection; His appearing to the disciples after his death and His ascension.   Luke's strong message throughout the book shares God's amazing grace, His great love for mankind and that nothing is impossible with God.  Take some time to read Luke this week.

The Gospels all share the “Good news” because they contain the exceedingly wonderful message of God's redemption of sinful humanity through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

The announcing of good news began with an angel heralding John the Baptist's birth to his father, Zechariah:
I am Gabriel.

I stand in the presence of God,

and I have been sent to speak to you

and to tell you this good news”   Luke 1:19
John the Baptist preached the coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah in Mark 1:1-4 . After John baptized Jesus,   God’s Spirit and anointing rested on the Lord “to bring Good News to the poor . . . to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free”  Luke 4:18 and to “proclaim the good news of God” Mark 1:14

“The time has come,” Jesus began. “The Kingdom of God has come near.  Repent and believe the good news! Mark 1:15
The gospel Jesus proclaimed, focused on the arrival of God’s kingdom.  Luke 10:9
Through Christ’s coming to earth, God’s rule would be completed. Matthew 6:10

His righteousness was established and His people glorified Isaiah 9:7 &
Romans 8:17-18 .
After Christ’s resurrection, the gospel was preached by those who had witnessed His life in Acts 5:42, Romans 1:1-4 & 9,  and today it continues to be preached throughout the world by His followers.

The gospel is good news because in it we find God’s promise of forgiveness from sin.
John testified that Jesus is “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!” John 1:29, Luke 24:46-47; Isaiah 53:406, Acts 13:38, and Hebrews 9:28
Through the gospel, we receive God’s power to live a new life in the righteousness of Jesus Christ:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel,

because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:
first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last.”
Romans 1:16-17

According to the gospel, sin separated us from God Isaiah 59:2 & Romans 3:23
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the price and canceled the debt of sin for all who would believe in Him. He was “pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace, was on him”  Isaiah 53:5, Colossians 1:20.
The gospel is good news because, through faith in Jesus Christ, we are reconciled to God and brought near to Him in fellowship: “Since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” Romans 5:1

The gospel is good news because “to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God”  John 1:12-13.
Everyone who believes in the gospel and is obedient, receives new life in Jesus Christ
We are adopted into God’s family Romans 8:14-18
We are “born of the Spirit” John 3:5-8  and receive the “gift of the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38 who guarantees our heavenly inheritance – Ephesians 1:13-14

The gospel is the greatest love story ever told –  John 15:13
What could be more excellent news than its promise of eternal life in Jesus Christ?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,

but to save the world through him”
John 3:16-17
Jesus told us that we will have trials in this life.
He bore it all….so that we would have a life filled with hope, purpose and meaning.

SHARE THE GOOD NEWS & KEEP SINGING:
GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN

Let them shout from the mountaintops”  Isaiah 42:11-12
Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born!
The shepherds all were watching,
While scattered on the ground,
A light from heaven descended,
And glory shown around.
Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born!
This light shown in the heavens,
To cover all the earth,
It was a sign to tell men,
About our Savior's birth..
Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born!
The wise men came to worship,
The Holy child that day,
They found Him in a manger,
A-sleeping on the hay.
Go tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere,
Go tell it on the mountain,
That Jesus Christ is born!
TELL THE GOOD NEWS

Go and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19
Christ was born in a distant land,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Lived on earth for the good of man,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news.
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news that Christ has come;
Tell the good news,
tell the good news,
Tell the good news to every one.
Christ became a man on earth,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Gave his life for man's re-birth,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news.
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news that Christ has come;
Tell the good news,
tell the good news,
Tell the good news to every one.
Christ arose and to heaven went,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
All may fol-low who repent,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news.
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news that Christ has come;
Tell the good news,
tell the good news,
Tell the good news to every one.
Christ still lives in the world today,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Giving strength to all souls who pray,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news.
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news,
Tell the good news that Christ has come;
Tell the good news,
tell the good news,
Tell the good news to every one.
The book of Luke concludes in Chapter 24:36 when Jesus appeared to his disciples on the road to Emmaus…..
While they were still talking about this,

Jesus himself stood among them and said to them,

Peace be with you.
They were startled and frightened, thinking they say a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?  Look at my hands and my feet.  It is I Myself!  Touch me and see, a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
vs 40 “When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.  And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”  They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
vs 44 “He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you:  Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”  Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
He told them, “This is what is written:  The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.  I am going to send you what my Father has promised: but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.  Then they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.  And they stayed continually at the temple praising GOD.”
This fallen world is in dire need to hear the GOOD NEWS.
May we all find comfort, forgiveness, Love,  Peace and Joy in the saving message of the Good news of Jesus Christ!
