Good morning everyone,

Praise God we have been given another day.  Each day is a gift, for we know not what tomorrow will bring.

James 4:13-14 “Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”  Why, you do not even know what will happen to tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

GIVING THANKS:

  • Zach Saracino’s surgery went well this past week.  Thanks to all for your prayers.

NEWS & UPDATES:

  • Congratulations to Tori Saracino who was selected by teachers & administrators to receive the South Central Area Superintendent’s  Association award. She will be honored at a luncheon in April with a news team there as well!  Congrats Tori!  Also, Tori will be in a concert on Friday, March 25th at Seymour High School that is free and open to all who would like to attend. Apparently this is a wonderful night of fun and great music!

  • Mildred is now out of her home, and will be living with her son for a few days until she gets settled into her new residence.  Her new address will be:

The Landing of North Haven a Senior  Independent Living Center on 201 Clintonville Rd, North Haven, CT.   06473

Attn: Mildred Perkins

This is a beautiful facility and we rejoice that Mildred will be in a better living situation.  We will pass along her cell phone as soon as we get her new number.

 PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Nadine spoke with her doctor this past week but they had technical difficulties in showing the medical board her images.  Discussions are leaning towards her having the surgery, but they will know more on Monday.

  • Continued prayers for Flo who is still forging through many tests to hopefully determine why she is not feeling well.

  • George & Elaine Caruthers are in need of prayers. George has been a long time elder at the Manchester church of Christ and Elaine recently had a stroke.  They were slated to move to Texas this week, but now she is in the ICU after having had a stroke.

FUN FACTS ABOUT OUR 150th CHURCH HISTORY:

  • Below is a copy of the first page of the minutes taken by the elders A.V. Abercrombie and Sylvester Pike back in 1890. This book is in wonderful condition and reading it takes us on a journey into the world of the church back in the 1800’s.   They recorded everything, even church attendance!    The records of this church are extensive and such an incredible part of our history.   These artifacts will be on display in November for all to see.

  • We have a receipt dated 1888 signed by P.T. Barnum for a small lot that was purchased by the church.

Below is a great article written by Tracie Walkup…

“God does not give crumbs.

Most of us have something in our past that makes us think we are not worthy or not good enough. By whose standards? Not sure at the time but it eventually becomes our standards. We tell ourselves these lies. We recite them over and over in our heads. We know they are not from God. They are a work of Satan that divides us, cripples us, and hinders our growth in all that’s good. This narrative separates us from the people God wants us to be and who He knows we are.

Maybe it’s a gift we weren’t expecting and we had nothing in return. Maybe it’s a gift we tried to give and our efforts weren’t appreciated. Possibly some harsh word that was entirely undeserved. Could be our looks or something we have that we think doesn’t measure up. We see ourselves compared to others. We find ourselves with pockets full of crumbs.

Think of the Israelite army looking at Goliath. They thought they didn’t measure up. They were paralyzed in their efforts to represent God and His purpose. Crumbs.

Along comes a kid. Too young to be a soldier. Not clothed in the proper attire for one either. Surrounded by disdain from his brothers and the warriors of his country. However he saw the comparison in a totally different manner. He measured the challenge to His God and found the challenger to be the unworthy one – not himself. David looked at his past and saw how His God came to his aid. Saw the love and protection. Saw how he looked to the eyes and heart of God.

…and he became quite effective to the purpose of the Almighty God of Heaven and Earth.

The giant asked, “am I a dog that you come to me with sticks?” David’s reply, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.” He ran to meet the giant! Whatever the giant is in our lives, it doesn’t measure up to what God sees in us nor what He has given us. God has given the very best to us!  No crumbs.

Don’t let Satan hinder us and cause us to give God the crumbs of what we see as our unworthy selves.

Look at what God has done in our lives.

Look at how He has led us and protected us.

Look at what He has given for us. God sent Heaven’s best! For me!!!

Jesus Loves Me is not just a kids’ song. It should be our anthem!!! Jesus loves me!! This I know!!!

Start every morning with Psalms 143:8-10 “Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing word for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way that I should go for to You lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies for I hide myself in You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. Let Your good Sprit lead me on level ground.”

Give God your very best.

What if we, the sons and daughters of the Creator of the Universe, saw how precious and important we are to God and really let Him work in us?

1 Peter 3:9. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who has called you out or darkness into His marvelous light.

God doesn’t give us crumbs!”

Thank you Tracie !

Singing is good for the soul…

JESUS LOVES ME

“Let the little children come to Me.”  Matthew 19:14

Jesus loves me this I know.

For the Bible tells me so.

Little ones to Him belong,

They are weak but He is strong!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me, He who died.

Heaven’s gate to open wide;

He will wash away my sin,

Let His little child come in.

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

Jesus take this heart of mine,

Make it pure and wholly Thine;

On the cross You died for me,

I will try to live for Thee.

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

These are some of the simplest words imaginable, and yet some of the most profound.  We teach this song to the smallest children. Still, the most mature in the faith, only scratch the surface of His grandeur and grace.

In Him,
