THE HEART

Inline image6ac73369-67c9-1249-042d-5e428794f2f5@yahoo.com>”>
Our muscular heart is the main organ in our cardiovascular system.  Our heart, is vital for life.
Per medicinenet.com….

“The heart is an amazing organ. It starts beating about 22 days after conception and continuously pumps oxygenated red blood cells,  nutrient-rich blood, and other compounds like platelets throughout your body to sustain the life of your organs. Its pumping power also pushes blood through organs like the lungs to remove waste products like CO2. This fist-sized powerhouse beats (expands and contracts) about 100,000 times per day, pumping five or six quarts of blood each minute, or about 2,000 gallons per day. In general, if the heart stops beating, in about 4-6 minutes of no blood flow, brain cells begin to die and after 10 minutes of no blood flow, the brain cells will cease to function and effectively be dead. There are a few exceptions to the above.”

The connection between the heart and mind is a running theme throughout the bible.   In scripture the heart is often seen as the center of one’s being, encompassing our emotions, desires, moral choices, while the mind is associated with understanding, reasoning and discernment.   Together, they form a complete and comprehensive picture of the inner life of a person.

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word “leb” is frequently translated as “heart” and is used to describe not only emotions, but also thoughts and intentions.   God in all of His glory reminds us that our heart is not just a muscle in the center of our chest, but it is deeply interconnected with our mind and soul.   We are to guard our heart!

The Shema as referred to in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel:  The LORD our God, the LORD is ONE, and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
This scripture clearly tells us that the heart is the seat of love and devotion, indicating that true worship involves emotional and intellectual committment.    YAHWEH is to be PRAISED by us and we are to teach His commandments diligently to our children…thinking, speaking, walking, talking, and living for HIM.

In the New Testament, the Greek word “kardia” is used for heart, and “nous” for mind.   Jesus emphasizes the heart’s importance in moral and spiritual life.

This commandment highlights the necessity of engaging both heart and mind in our relationship with GOD.
The Apostle Paul frequently addresses the heart and mind connection in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”   We must think and act with discernmentHeart and Mind.   By walking reverently in this life, we please God and will be blessed by Him!
CHRISTIANS are called to cultivate a heart that is pure, and a mind which is focused on TRUTH.   The Apostle Paul  appeals to us to have a disciplined mind that influences our heart’s desires and actions.

Philippians 4:7,8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true,

whatever is honorable, whatever is right,

whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable –

if anything is excellent or praiseworthy –

think on these things,
and the peace of God,

which surpasses all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
The Holy Spirit provides us the  peace that protects and unites the heart and mind, enabling Christians to live in harmony with God’s will.
What an AWESOME GOD we serve, who gives us the HOLY SPIRIT who helps us in our times of weakness!  We may not always know what to say, but GOD KNOWS OUR HEARTS.  The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf with the same emotional groanings that we cannot fully express.

PRAISE GOD our creator who is the definition of LOVE,  spoke our lives into existence.     From the sand of the earth, he breathed and Adam came alive.    From God’s Heart, He breathed LIFE into US!
1 John 4:19 “We love, because HE first LOVED US!
Inline image1fc88248-6e8a-ae02-bc37-fff9efe06b0a@yahoo.com>”>
Can we grasp the depth of HIS DEITY?
Can we grasp how perfectly created we are, in HIS IMAGE?
Can we grasp that this physical muscle in our chest, which functions to pump blood and oxygen to ALL parts of our body,   has such an important part in our WHOLE BEING … Heart, Mind & Soul…. emotions, thoughts etc.  and was ALL CREATED BY GOD?

Praise GOD we have HIS WORD which brings us to closer to KNOWING MORE about HIS HEART!

Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is alive and active.

Sharper than any double – edged sword,

it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit,

joints and marrow;

it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Inline image9600595b-845e-f0d4-3284-7b6e314b1806@yahoo.com>”>

From Genesis to Revelation, the scriptures speak of God and reveals who HE IS and HIS CHARACTER.

As followers of JESUS, we get a deeper beautiful glimpse into the HEART OF GOD.
Colossians 1:15
He is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn of all creation.”

Hopefully we are growing spiritually.  May we seek to LOVE GOD FULLY, live according to HIS PURPOSES and follow JESUS!

MAY OUR HEARTS KEEP SINGING & PRAISING GOD:
LISTEN TO OUR HEARTS

How do you explain?
How do you describe?
A love that goes from East to West,
And runs as deep as it is wide.
You know all our hopes,
Lord, You know all our fears,
And words cannot express the love we feel,
But we long for You to hear.

So listen to our hearts,
Hear our spirits sing,
A song of praise that flows,
For those You have redeemed,
We will use the words we know,
To tell you what an awesome God You are!
When words are not enough
To tell You of our love,
Just listen to our hearts.

If words could fall like rain
From these lips of mine
And if I had a thousand years
LORD, I would still run out of time
But if You listen to my heart,
Every beat will say,
Thank you for the Life,
Thank you for the Truth,
Thank you for the Way!

So listen to hearts (Oh, Lord, please listen)
Hear our spirits sing (And hear us sing)
A song of praise that flows (A simple song of praise)
From those of You have redeemed (From those You have redeemed)
We will use the words we know,
To tell you what an awesome God You are!
But when words are not enough
To tell You of our love
So listen to our hearts

So if You listen to my heart
Every beat will say
Thank You for the Life!
Thank You for the Truth!
Thank You for the Way!

And listen to hearts (Oh, Lord, please listen),
Hear our spirits sing (And hear us sing),
A song of praise that flows (A simple song of praise),
From those of You have redeemed (From those You have redeemed),
We will use the words we know
To tell you what an Awesome God You are,
But when words are not enough,
To tell You of our love,
Just listen to our hearts.

When words are not enough,
To tell You of our love,
Just listen to our hearts.

May we PRAISE HIM for the life breath within us!

May we PRAISE HIM for our hearts, which beat HIS PRAISES!

May we thank HIM FOR THE LIFE,  FOR THE TRUTH & thank HIM FOR THE WAY.

PRAISE THE LORD!

To GOD BE THE GLORY – GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE!

In Him,

Bruce & Paula
