Andrew organized a dinner at a Greek restaurant!
Below are a few pictures from their ferry ride to Port Jefferson.
At one point the group had done a devotional by the sailboat and they were talking about how they were hoping to see a sunset (since it was pretty rainy that day). A man that was also looking out and overheard them saying “I don’t think you’re going to see a sunset today buddy!” Within seconds, the clouds opened up and provided a beautiful sunset for them all to enjoy! God is SO good!
SUNDAY, June 22nd the YOUNG ADULTS will bring a lunch, enjoy a devotional immediately following worship, and head over to the Beardsley Zoo.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”
Here are some amazing facts about Doves:
Doves are symbols of peace and have fascinating abilities like recognizing themselves in mirrors (a trait that is often considered a sign of self-awareness and high cognitive function), and navigating long distances using the Earth’s magnetic field and position of the sun.
Doves are gentle, adaptable birds with lifelong monogamous relationships, excellent parenting skills and a beautiful array of feathers.
Doves also play an important ecological role by dispersing seeds and helping to regenerate forests!
Throughout history, doves have been seen as messengers of tranquility and harmony, making them a powerful symbol in scripture.

Doves can fly at high speeds. These elegant birds are not just beautiful to look at; they are also incredibly fast flyers. They can reach speeds of up to 55 miles per hour, allowing them to navigate through the sky with grace and agility.
Doves are found all over the world, in diverse habitats. They have excellent navigational skills and can navigate their way over long distances. They are known for their graceful flight in the air. Watching doves in flight is a sight to behold. They glide effortlessly through the air with smooth and graceful movements, showcasing their inherent elegance and poise.
Doves are gentle and peaceful. They are known for their calm temperament which adds to their symbolic representation of peace and harmony.
Doves have excellent vision allowing them to spot food, predators, and potential hazards from a distance. Their keen eyesight is crucial for their survival in the wild.

In Christianity, doves are significant symbols of the Holy Spirit and peace and reconciliation. They also represent innocence and righteousness.
In we read how Noah sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. Because there was water over all the surface of the earth, “the dove returned to Noah with a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak. Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. “
In “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. ”
Doves were often used as sacrificial offerings in biblical times, highlighting their purity and role in worship. Doves are mentioned in the Psalms and the Song of Solomon as symbols of beauty, devotion, and the desire for intimacy with God.

ABBA FATHER
In Scripture there are many different names to describe God. “Abba Father” is one of the most significant names that was used by Jesus and the apostle Paul.
The word Abba is an Aramaic word that means “Father”. It was a common term that expressed affection, confidence and trust. Abba signifies the close, intimate relationship of a father and his child, as well as the childlike trust that a young child puts in his “daddy”.

The word ‘Abba’ was spoken by Jesus and Paul as an intimate term to characterize their personal relationships with God.
Abba is always followed by the word Father in Scripture, and is a term reflecting reverence. Abba Father is found only three times in scripture.
In Mark chapter 14 and the following chapters, we read about the events which were marking the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry.
In Mark chapter Jesus met with the disciples and He told them that one of them would betray Him. He shares that the one who would betray Him, was eating with him. “They were saddened” as verse 19 states. As the verses continue, Jesus predicts that that they would all fall away (vs 27) and that Peter would deny Him three times (verse 30).
His closest friends, walked with him intimately, witnessed Him perform miracles and yet, they were not there for Him when He needed them the most and they fell asleep. He knew the horror which was to come. He prayed to His Heavenly Father…God.
Jesus addresses His Father in Scripture as “Abba, Father“ in His prayer at Gethsemane. He calls to God acknowledging the power of God, and in humble adoration for His Father, in this “cup of sacrifice“.
“And He (Jesus said), ‘Abba Father, all things are possible for You.
Take this cup away from Me;
nevertheless, not what I will,
but what You will.“
Two other times in Scripture ‘Abba, Father’ is spoken.
The apostle Paul was someone who was completely transformed by God after being someone who killed Christians and opposed everything about Christianity. After he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, Paul endured 3 days of blindless that changed his perspective about Christ followers and faith in general. Paul’s letters to the churches proclaim to them that they were now all children of God, like he had become. Thus the reason for calling God, ‘Abba, Father‘.
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery again to fall back into fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption as sons,
by whom we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’“
“God sent his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, to redeem those under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
And because you are sons,
God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying ‘Abba, Father!‘ ”
Knowing we are made in God’s image, establishes the unbreakable bond we share with the Father which cannot be imitated.
The potter (GOD) made the clay…(US)… His breath is within us. He molded us and has shaped us for His glory.

Our Father’s love for us is beyond comprehension.
Our Heavenly Father knows us better than we know ourselves! shares that God knows every hair on our heads.
No matter what our age, we have a Heavenly Father who’s arms are outstretched for each of us!

“Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.“
In Jesus prays for all believers…
“My prayer is not for them alone.
I pray also for those who believe in me through their message,
all of them be one, Father,
just as you are in me,
and I am in you.”
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am,
so that they will see my glory,
which you have given me
because you loved me before the world’s foundation.“
Not everyone has been blessed with a good experience with their earthly fathers. If only the world could see that their Heavenly Father loves them SO much!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His One and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.“
We are privileged to share in the intimacy of Jesus and God!
We have a Heavenly Father that made and molded us in HIS IMAGE.
Our Heavenly Father knows our strengths and weaknesses, our beginning and our end in life. Psalm 139
Instead of forcing His will on us, He allows us to meet Him in our own way, with intimacy that can only be felt between the Creator and us, the created!
Christians who have been baptized in the blood of Jesus are adopted into the family of God.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God –
children born not of natural descent,
nor of human decision or a husband’s will,
but born of God.“

“Jesus declared,
I tell you the truth,
no one can see the kingdom of God
unless he is born again.…”
His Spirit is within us!
We are heirs to His eternal throne.
We can approach God with “boldness” and “full assurance of faith”–
Being children of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords calls us to a higher standard, a different way of life, and we can look forward to “an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you,
who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation
that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Becoming a child of God is the highest and most humbling of honors. Instead of running from God and trying to hide our sin like Adam and Eve did, we can run to Him, calling “Abba, Father!” and finding forgiveness in CHRIST and living for His glory!
“As a prisoner for the LORD, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.“
Can we wrap our minds around the fact that as children of GOD, we have a tender, warm, intimate, eternal, loving, kind, courageous relationship with Him through Jesus Christ?
MAY WE REJOICE….PRAISE GOD… & KEEP SINGING ... ABBA, FATHER!
