ALL THINGS ARE READY, COME TO THE FEAST!
Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday where families gather together around a table filled with food!    Depending on your culture, roots and/or  family traditions, some people cook the traditional stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and more, while others may celebrate with lasagna, pasta, or foods from cultures all around the world.
The most special thing about the Thanksgiving holiday, is the family bonds we share.  Families travel far distances to be close together, to re-unite, and catch up on each other’s lives.  To share in the family triumphs of new births,  or grieve the passing of loved ones who were near and dear to family’s hearts.  Families are a true gift from God.
Each of you, our church family here in Trumbull, are loved and appreciated more than you know.  There are no words to describe the deep rooted relationship of being part of the family of God.
Love is the tie that binds all families together to celebrate each other, and this precious life that God has given to us.   Love involves compassion, care and self-sacrifice.   This Love  hopefully mimics that of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, who showed us all how much He loves us, with His arms outstretched as he gave up His very own life.

1 John 4:9-11 & 19
“This is how God showed his love among us:

He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

This is love:  not that we loved God,

but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another….

We love because he first loved us.”

Romans 13:10

“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Luke 10:27

“He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Ephesians 5:2

“And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

1 Peter 4:8

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

Every Sunday we have the opportunity to worship God and be part of a divine fellowship.   We partake of a spiritual feast which is composed of two powerful symbols…the bread (symbolizing the body of Christ)  and the fruit of the vine (symbolizing the blood of Christ).
Jesus’ body was so badly tortured, that it was hardly recognizable.

Psalm 22:12-17

“Many bulls surround me;
strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
Roaring lions that tear their prey
open their mouths wide against me.

I am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.

My heart has turned to wax;
it has melted within me.

My mouth is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me in the dust of death.

Dogs surround me,

a pack of villains encircles me;

they pierce my hands and my feet.
All my bones are on display;
   people stare and gloat over me.”

The fruit of the vine representing His blood, reminds us of His horrific death.  Jesus, who was the perfect slain lamb, became the fulfillment of the law and sacrifice for our sins.
This feast is not one of a table filled with food.   There are two emblems to this spiritual feast, both of which bring us to our knees and at the foot of the cross.   This significant meal causes us to remember our Lord’s life, death and resurrection.  This simple yet powerful meal comes with great cost, and was paid for with true sacrifice.  This powerful Lord’s Supper brings us incredible hope, as we look forward to Christ’s return.
The perfect Son of God, became the fulfillment of the countless Old Testament prophecies concerning a Redeemer which is mind boggling.

The Passover, which required the death of a lamb and looked forward to the coming of the Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world, was fulfilled in Jesus’ death on the cross.     The New Covenant replaced the Old Covenant, when Christ who became the true Passover Lamb was sacrificed.

Hebrews 8:8-13

“But God found fault with the people and said:

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.

This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”

Jesus instructed His disciples to “Take, eat; this is my body”  and “Drink from it, all of you.  For this is My blood of the new covenant”.
Matthew 26:26-27.

Jesus instructed His disciples to “Do this in remembrance of me

Luke described the early church as being “devoted” to the breaking of bread as  we read in Acts 2:42.   They viewed the Lord’s Supper as of primary importance.  To them, the Lord’s Supper mattered because it was a command.   It was purposeful and meaningful every first day of the week.
This powerful time of worship, allows us to examine each of our own hearts, prior to partaking of it.
Paul shares in 1 Corinthians 11:27-29
“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.
Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body,
eats and drinks judgement on himself.”
Pauls’ words emphasize the importance of this powerful memorial.
Jesus’ arms are open for all to come to Him.  Regardless of their background, or past…  no matter what they have done…  Jesus invites all to follow Him and taste and see that the LORD is good!

Jesus bore the sins of the world as He hung on the cruel cross of Calvary.
His arms are open wide for everyone to come to HIM.

Every first day of the week , Christians meet together as the family of GOD.
Every person alive on this planet, is extended the invitation to worship God, to follow Jesus, and come to the banquet table.
The invitation is offered each week, for all to partake in the most powerful, wonderful, magnificent spiritual feast!
It costs nothing and is free.
It was paid for by the Royal  Blood of Jesus Christ.
Invite your friends, families, and neighbors to come to the feast!
All things are ready!
KEEP SINGING:

ALL THINGS ARE READY
All things are ready,” come to the feast!
Come for the table now is spread;
Ye famishing, ye weary, come,
And thou shalt be richly fed.

Hear the invitation,
Come, whosoever will;
Praise God for full salvation
  For whosoever will.

“All things are ready,” come to the feast!
Come, for the door is open wide;
A place of honor is reserved
For you at the Master’s side.
Hear the invitation,
Come, whosoever will;
Praise God for full salvation
  For whosoever will.

“All things are ready,” come to the feast!
Come, while He waits to welcome thee;
Delay not while this day is thine,
Tomorrow may never be.
Hear the invitation,
Come, whosoever will;
Praise God for full salvation
  For whosoever will.

“All things are ready,” come to the feast!
Leave every care and worldly strife;
Come, feast upon the Love of God
And drink everlasting life.
Hear the invitation,
Come, whosoever will;
Praise God for full salvation
  For whosoever will.

Revelation 22:17
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”
 And let him who hears say, “Come!”
Whoever is thirsty, let him come and whoever wishes let him take the free gift of the water of life.”

To God be the glory great things He hath done!
