In John 16:33 Jesus tells us that we will encounter trying times and have trouble in this life.
Hurricane Milton is the second hurricane to hit the state of Florida in just a few weeks time. Thankfully, with all of the advanced warning, many were able to evacuate.
Some storms that hit are sudden, and without warning. Some storms come one right after the other. Below is an image of a hurricane taken from space. Above the storm, is calm.

While the state of Florida was dealing with Hurricane Milton, there were also several devastating tornadoes that also hit many counties simultaneously, leveling everything in their path.

No doubt this life brings heartache, challenges, grief, and trauma. Daily we are faced with storms on every level, physical storms, emotional battles, job losses, family and marital strife, the passing of loved ones, and the list goes on.
Thank God for our Faith in Jesus Christ!

Followers of Jesus choose to focus on GOD’s character, power and love – rather than being absorbed with the turbulent circumstances raging around us. To claim CHRIST’S STRENGTH in our storm, rather than letting the storm crush us, is to not only help us endure, but ultimately for the GLORY of God.

Storms and troubling situations happen and often we feel helpless and don’t know what to do. Our storms bring us to a point of chaos and confusion. Difficult times set the stage for God to show Himself MIGHTY in our life.
The truth is we aren’t in control, but GOD is! He is aware of every single detail of our storm.

Jesus stands in the midst of our storm and longs for us to take HIS HAND.For HIS HANDS are opened wide for us to enter into His perfect peace which passes understanding. What Jesus endured, gives us hope that there is SO much more than this life!
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.“
Nothing about the storms of life are easy. In fact, sometimes our storms break us. As Christians we need to think spiritually during our storms, have HOPE and do not fear!
JESUS WILL CARRY US THROUGH.
JESUS IS WITH US DURING OUR STORM
1 Corinthians 1:8
“He will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.“
JESUS IS our PEACE.
John 16:33
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
DO NOT FEAR…
Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”
JESUS empowers us with EVERYTHING we need to face our storms.
Philippians 4:19
“My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
SO BE STRONG…

GOD WILL KEEP HIS PROMISES...and we will brought safely through and reach our journey’s end in JESUS CHRIST.
John10:27-28
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

Mark 4:35-36 shares the story of JESUS calming the storm. This account is also found in Matthew and Luke.
Jesus had been teaching near the Sea of Galilee. Afterwards, he wanted a respite from the crowds so he decided to take a boat with the apostles to the opposite shore where there were no large towns. “A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?“

In Mark 6:47-52 shortly after Jesus fed the five thousand, we read the account when Jesus saw his disciples in the midst of a storm.
“When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on the land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he went out to them, walking on the lake, He was about to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, ‘take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed…”

In Matthew 14:25-31 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come“, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Peter began to sink because he took his eyes off of Jesus.
Our Lord in His tender, kind and loving way, extended his hand and took hold of Peter’s hand.
“Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him,” Matthew 14:31
vs. 32 “And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshipped him, saying. “Truly you are the Son of God.“

Jesus is with us in our stormsand He calms us with His promises. He moves us from having “head knowledge” to personally experiencing the powerful peace of the Master’s presence.
God has a plan in the storms of life, but we don’t always know what it is. That’s the part that requires faith. We reach for a plan, but Jesus offers His hand instead!
Take your trial, one day at a time and keep trusting HIM.
Stay in God’s Word and remember you are not alone. Jesus sees when we are weary and straining at the oars. HE WILL carry us through.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.”
When we so broken we don’t have the right words to say, the Holy Spirit cries out on our behalf!
Romans 8:26
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.“

Our job is to do our best, and let GOD do the rest!
This scripture in Isaiah is a command…to BE STILL... take time to pause and reflect on life and our CREATOR. To focus our minds and place our trust in God, and to KNOW that HE is in control.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still and know that I am GOD.”
