Our hearts are breaking for all countries affected by terrorism. Innocent lives are being taken and others in perilous situations. Are there any parts of this old world that are at Peace?
Just about every institution is under attack…marriage, the family, the church, communities, schools, our country, & the world in general.
Jesus told us that there will be trials in this life.
The Apostle Paul reassures us that we can tap into a Peace that passes all understanding through Jesus!
“And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7
Jesus Christ came to this earth, to be the intermediary between us and God.
The Lamb of God, connects us with GOD the FATHER, to show us The Way.
As we break down this one verse, it brings us true comfort and peace:
“And the Peace of God…
God's peace is un-like the peace of this world. His peace is perfect peace, a forever & eternal peace. A peace like we've never seen where there is no sin, no fighting, no hatred or evil, no pain, no sorrow, no drama.
The Peace of God is a Peace that only comes from, and through His son Jesus Christ. It's a peace that we hope for, a peace that we long for, a peace that lies deep within our soul and that which will last for eternity.
Psalm 145
….which transcends all understanding.
What is understanding? Is it merely our human perspective of things?
Our understanding of life should be defined by the wisdom by which we walk. The ability to discern life through the lens of JESUS CHRIST & His eternal Word.
“For the grass withers and flowers fade, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
…will guard your hearts and minds
to guard something, means protect it.
If we don't guard our hearts and minds, we will be consumed with fear and anxiety. When we trust in God with our problems, concerns, heart-aches, we are at Peace when we accept HIS will for us, whatever that may be.
Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.“
…. IN Christ Jesus
To have our minds set on Christ and the eternal brings us His Perfect Peace.
To be present with GOD who is with us every second of the day, praying to Him, obeying Him, praising Him, no matter what befalls us. How comforting to know that God's fully aware of all that is going on around us. He also knows the outcome!
John 16:33
“I have told you these things,
so that
in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart, I have overcome the world.“
God is with us, no matter what is going on in the world, or when everything is falling apart in our lives. He knows each and every detail. He holds all time in His hands.
God's peace is an all embracing peace. For the Christian, The Holy Spirit, gives us the strength to face whatever comes our way.
How do we tap into this peace?
Giving thanks to God
“The LORD is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.”
Psalms 28:7
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body
you were called to peace. And be thankful.“
Prayer
“The righteous cry and the LORD hears And delivers them out of all their troubles.”
Psalm 4:17-20
Staying focused
“You will keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord is everlasting strength.”
Isaiah 16:3-4
Staying in the Word of God
God's Word is unchanging, and eternal and gives us true hope.
“Your word, LORD, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.”
Psalm 119:89
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of
deliverance.“
Psalm 32:7-8
Trust HIM
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”
Worry less
Matthew 6:34 “Don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have it's own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Think Spiritually
Romans 8:5-7 “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed it cannot.“
Be still….
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God“
All of Psalm 46 speaks of God being our refuge and strength. He is an ever-present help in trouble. David goes on to to encourage us not to fear, even though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea. He talks about the river whose streams make glad the city of God and that the LORD is our fortress. Let us soak up this Psalm while we BE STILL.
The Prophet Isaiah shared great messages of hope. God promises us that His plans are good, no matter how desperate times are here. He moves us toward the day when death will be swallowed up, and He will wipe every tear from our eyes.
Isaiah 25:8 “he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth.“
Isaiah 26:3-4 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock”
Isaiah 26:12 “Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished, you have done for us.“
John wrote in Revelation about what was, what is, and what will be. We have an eternal HOPE!
Revelation 21:1 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. ” and in 22:5 “There will be no more night.“
The Apostle Paul shared in Romans 5:1,2
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith
into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.“
There is an Israeli folk song called Shalom Chaverim. Shalom means PEACE and is the greeting they say when they meet one another, and when they depart. It is used for welcoming guests and when they say farewell. This song is sung as a three part round and we taught this song to the children at one of our Vacation Bible Schools many years ago when we taught MOSES.
Shalom Chaverim,
Shalom Chaverim,
Sha-lom, Sha-lom,
Lehitraot, Lehitraot,
Shalom, Shalom
The translation in English is
Peace (hello friends), hello friends
Peace, peace
Goodbye, goodbye,
Peace, peace
WE CAN REJOICE IN THIS PERFECT PEACE….THE VICTORY HAS ALREADY BEEN WON IN JESUS!
KEEP SINGING
HIDE ME AWAY O LORD
“How precious is Your loving kindness.” Psalm 36:7
Hide me away O Lord (Hide me away O Lord)
Hide me away O Lord (Hide me away O Lord)
In the day of trouble neath the shadow of Your wings,
Hide me away O Lord
Give me Your peace O Lord (Give me Your peace O Lord)
Give me Your peace O Lord (Give me Your peace O Lord)
In the day of trouble neath the shadow of Your wings,
Give me Your peace O Lord
Safe in Your dwelling place (Safe in Your dwelling place)
Safe in Your dwelling place (Safe in Your dwelling place)
In the day of trouble neath the shadow of Your wings,
Safe in Your dwelling place
Hide me away O Lord, (Hide me away O Lord)
Hide me away O Lord, (Hide me away O Lord)
Hide me away O Lord, (Hide me away O Lord)
VICTORY IN JESUS
“But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33
I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory
How he gave his life on calvary,
To save a wretch like me.
I heard about his groaning,
Of his precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the Victory!
Oh Victory in Jesus,
My Savior for ever,
He sought me and bought me,
With His redeeming blood,
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to Victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.
I heard about his healing,
Of his cleansing power revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again,
And caused the blind to see,
And then I cried, Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,
I then obeyed His blest commands,
And gained the Victory!
Oh Victory in Jesus,
My Savior for ever,
He sought me and bought me,
With His redeeming blood,
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to Victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.
I heard about a mansion,
He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the street of gold,
Beyond the crystal sea.
About the Angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there,
The Song of Victory!
Oh Victory in Jesus,
My Savior for ever,
He sought me and bought me,
With His redeeming blood,
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to Victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.
Know GOD, know Peace.
When the peace of God guards our hearts and minds, in HIM we can find rest unto our souls.
May we put our trust and hope in Him who is unchanging, and eternal.
No God, No peace.
Psalm 145:17
“The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him, in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
He hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.“
The world needs to hear the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus now more than ever.
Pass out the church cards and invite someone to worship
Reach out to your neighbors inviting their children to bible classes or children's events here
As we come in contact with people & ask them…. “How is your soul?”
Let our love for the LORD motivate us to stretch out of our comfort zones and show the love of God.
Keep the dialogue going with one important key element…. LOVE.

Shalom Chaverim.
May Grace and Peace abound.
HE is our Peace.
