O COME LET US ADORE HIM

Good morning to all,

We were saddened by the news of our brother Mel’s passing.  Mel was a long-time member here and such a joyous soul.  He spoke highly of everyone and was a true servant and encourager. It's hard losing our seniors. They bring much wisdom to this body and have served here or a long time.

The Funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. here at the church building.   Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4pm at the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Mainstreet and Gorham Place in Trumbull.

Hundreds of years before Jesus Christ was born, it was foretold that a virgin mother would bring a special son into the world.  Isaiah 7:14  “Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

In Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, ‘God with us.’

God became man.   “Immanuel” or God with us.

This time of year brings focus on Jesus as a baby in the manger, yet  He was… and IS… so much more!

God could have chosen any other form for Jesus to come to earth as, yet he chose an infant.  A perfectly pure, innocent baby.   His miracle virgin birth brought shepherds and Kings from afar.  They journeyed long and far to Praise and honor the Prince of Glory.

In a lowly stable in a manger in Bethlehem, the Son of God was born.  The date of the birth of Jesus is not known, but that shouldn't matter.  The important thing, is that HE CAME!

Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.  The grace of God was on him.

Luke 2:40 & 52 “And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.”  “And Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Jesus Christ was and is, so much more than we can comprehend.

HE IS!

I SING PRAISES TO YOUR NAME

I sing Praises to Your Name,

Oh LORD,

Praises to Your Name,

Oh LORD,

For Your name is great and greatly to be praised.

I give glory to Your Name,

Oh LORD,

Glory to Your Name,

Oh LORD,

For Your name is great and greatly to be praised!

In closing…Philippians 2:5-11 reads:

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus;

Who, being in very nature God,

Did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

Rather, he made himself nothing

By taking the very nature of a servant,

Being made in human likeness,

And being found in appearance as a man,

He humbled himself

By becoming obedient to death,

Even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

And gave him the name that is above every name,

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

In heaven and on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue acknowledge that

Jesus Christ is LORD,

To the glory of God the Father.”

From the cradle,  to the cross,  to the Crown of Glory,   Jesus is LORD.
