GIVING THANKS:
* Karsen Eddy who is one of our precious children here at the Trumbull church of Christ, finished 1st grade a few weeks ago and will begin 2nd grade come September. Karsen has been saving up his allowance money from doing chores for many months, in preparation for a convention they are attending in July. He decided to give $100.00 of his money to church and was happy to do so. We are so proud that Karsen on his own volition, made the choice to give to the LORD. Thank you Karsen!
* Paula Ross is feeling much better. Giving much thanks! She will be flying to see her son, his wife and daughter in Florida soon, since they have not seen them in 2 years. Prayers for their safe travels and a great reunion!
* Irene Aschen has been struggling for many months with breathing issues. The doctor shared some good news that her lung disease is not progressing and there was some improvement seen on the CAT scan. They are trying a low dose medicine for 3 months then a CAT Scan to see if her lungs will be stable. But she is extremely thankful for all of the prayers offered on her behalf.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
* Nadine’s bone biopsy is scheduled for July 25th so prayers all around for this procedure and for her health in general. Nadine & Kimberly are traveling to Florida this week to visit family. Prayers for a safe trip and fun visit!
* Emille Jones is still dealing with a variety of challenges as they continue to deal with several doctors who keep sending him for test after test. They said he is a complicated case, since they believe he has both lymphoma and myeloma. They have sent his cases to the Sloan medical board for review. Prayers are needed for God’s clear direction so he can receive the proper treatment asap.
* Pamela Pimpton requested prayers for her friend whose brother Charles Reese passed away. She also has a friend Megan who is going through a very hard time & needs God to open a door for her.
* Prayers for those affected by severe storms, flooding and more throughout our country and all over the world. So many are trying to re-build and many still are without power in Dallas, Houston and the state of Texas in general.

e7457009-52ec-e12d-df34-8cd193e4149a@yahoo.com>”>“That’s awesome!” is a term that is quite common these days. It is loosely used to describe lots of things….people, events, places, or whatever. We hear it frequently as an adjective “That dessert was “awesome”! Is it possible that we’ve watered down our language so much to compare something such a delicious dessert …to our Awesome Creator?
God is described in scripture as “AWESOME” and nothing, and no one comes close to HIS AWESOMENESS.
dfd99fb8-46a7-9c48-49bb-297b1dcef9c6@yahoo.com>”>The Hebrew word related to “awesome” is multi-faceted when it comes to God. “Yare” means to fear or be afraid: to be awed: to cause astonishment; to inspire reverence; and to show reverence, honor, and respect. It also means marvelous, miraculous, wonderful, and wondrous.
The term used in the King James Version is “fearful” or “terrible” as in Psalm 47:2
The English usage of the word when the King James version was published meant a reverent fear of God. “For the LORD most high is terrible”. The word terrible was later translated as “awesome”.
Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “awesome” as “inspiring awe”. Taking that one step further, “awe” is defined as “an emotion variously combining dread, veneration, and wonder that is inspired by authority or by the sacred or sublime.”
Having AWE OF GOD means we fear Him, we revere Him and continually submit to Him in humility and faith. We worship Him, knowing He is God and we are inspired on the wonders of His Deity.
Mere words cannot fully describe our Creator, but the Scriptures can!

He is our Maker.

dc8aaea7-f1ce-6649-4e6b-5b383929a7ad@yahoo.com>”>The Scriptures define His awesome being…
Deuteronomy 7:21
“Do not be terrified by them,
for the LORD your God, who is among you,
is a great and awesome God.“
Nehemiah 1:5
“O LORD God of heaven,
the great and awesome God,
who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him
and obey his commands.“
Job 37:22
“Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
God comes in awesome majesty.
The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
in his justice and great righteousness,
he does not oppress.”
His Holiness
Psalm 99:3-
“The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble;
he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.
Great is the LORD in Zion;
he is exalted over all the nations.
Let them praise your great and awesome name – he is holy.“
His Glory
Exodus 15:11
“Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?
Who is like you – majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory,
working wonders?
You stretch out your right hand and the earth swallowed them.“
God is awesome in His sanctuary
Psalm 68:35
“You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary.
The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
Praise be to God!“
God is awesome in His deeds
Psalm 65:5
“You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness,
O God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.
Those living far away fear your wonders,
where morning dawns and evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy.”
God is great in His destructing power.
Exodus 15:11
God used His power to protect His people, and to fulfill His promises to the people of Israel. Moses sang a song to the LORD…
“Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?
Who is like you – majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory.“
God is the GREAT I AM
Exodus 3:14,15
“God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM“.
Genesis 28:17 “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,

As human beings, we cannot even begin to comprehend the full extent of the glory of God and His greatness. He is our Creator, our King, Savior and LORD. He is loving, merciful, powerful, forgiving and IS AN AWESOME GOD!

HOW GREAT THOU ART
O Lord my God!
When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
When thru the woods and forest glades I wander,
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down on lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook
and feel the gentle breeze;
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin;
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home
what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art,
how great Thou art!
I STAND IN AWE OF YOU…
too marvelous for words,
Too wonderful for comprehension,
like nothing ever seen or heard.
Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom,
who can fathom the depth of Your love?
You are beautiful beyond description,
majesty enthroned above.
And I Stand, I stand in Awe of You,
I stand, I stand in awe of You;
Holy God, to whom all praise is due,
I stand in awe of You.
God provided us with a savior who suffered a brutal and torturous death by crucifixion. Jesus, God’s one and only Son, whom He loved, bore all of the sins of the world. Jesus took the fall for each of us, so that we may have an eternal relationship with the Father.
God’s gift of LOVE is stated in John 3:16 which should help us to reserve the word AWESOME for our Creator alone.
