REJOICE in the LORD always & again I say, REOICE!

Good morning church family,

GIVING THANKS:
*    Cindy Holly gives much thanks for all of the prayers for her son Christopher.  God got Christopher through a very difficult 2 years & praise God that everything is finally settled & in Christopher’s favor.
*   We give much thanks to Pat Keller for all of the work he has done regarding our IT upgrades and directory information!

As he starts to roll out members information on our website, there is a new system in place for prayer requests.   Members can go to   pray.trumbullchurchofchris.org   to submit their prayer requests which will be downloaded regularly and added to the prayer list.   This is a great upgrade especially for our young people who are tech savvy.

Good news…for those of us who are older and challenged with IT things, we can continue to do it the old way and simply tell one of the church leaders about your prayer request. So don’t worry…the old way will still work!

*    Thanks to Beulah Collymore who gave an OUTSTANDING lesson last Saturday on Kindness and Goodness.   We are incredibly blessed in this congregation who have seniors and young people who are leading bible classes!

PRAYER REQUESTS:

*    Margaret Rizzio’s brother Jim has MS which unfortunately  is progressing.   He has been falling recently, prayers for Jim and Margaret as she ministers to him through this trial.

*    Karen Stanzione’s son-in-law Jose is home from the hospital but in extreme pain.   Continued prayers for Jose.
*    Leah Fernandes’ cousin Lisa Toby is half way through her chemo and needs more scans.  Prayers for the remainder of her treatment to continue to go well.

*   Cindy Holly, who asked for prayers for the Grubb family, shared this information so we wanted to pass along to everyone.  Cindy spoke with Chastity Grubb’s parents – David & Jackie Preston – who will be the new caregivers for the 4 children (Duncan, Jack, Sophie and Devlin).  They are grateful for all of our prayers and know that God will give them the wisdom and strength to get through this difficult time.  They lost one other daughter to cancer, their son-in-law (the children’s father 7 years ago), and now Chasity was killed tragically in a car accident.  So David & Jackie  are trying to process it all, while trying to be strong for the children.  The church of Christ in Smyrna is large and the members are all rallying around the children, praise God.  Cindy mentioned that her church family in Trumbull was praying and David broke down, saying they desperately need our prayers and to thank everyone.   Their address is:   The Grubb family, 3009 Malton Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167

*     Desrine is still dealing with some health struggles, prayers for her wellness.
*    Debbie Christy’s brother Clarence lost his son and is dealing with pain from a shoulder injury.  Prayers for strength and healing and for all of the Christy family.

Congratulations to Laney Bell who gets married TODAY  in Tulsa Oklahoma to Tyler Davis.   The Bell family worshipped here for many years and relocated to Virginia.  David & Carmen (Laney’s parents)  went to Harding at the same time as Tyler’s parents but they didn’t know each other back then!  God is always working – Romans 8:28!   Tyler has a job as a Social Worker in the school system in Tulsa and Laney is in HR.  We rejoice over their wedding and wish them all the best!

It’s a beautiful thing to see the children whom we’ve taught here, remain faithful, grow up in the church, marry in the faith and choose to build their foundation on the LORD.

Below is a photo we had to share of Nathan Pena (who worships with the Bridgeport Church of Christ) , Kristen Hubbell (whose bridal shower is today) ,  Laney Bell (as featured in the above photo & who is getting married today)  and Zach Saracino (who leads our Young Adult Group) when they were 4 years old, in Bible class here at Trumbull.    We REJOICE & GIVE THANKS  that all who are now young Christian adults, have remained faithful and are continuing to grow in the LORD!

As a congregation we REJOICE in so many things and give THANKS to GOD for HIS countless blessings all through the years.    We have babies being born,  young adults who are growing and serving the LORD;  our senior members are teaching bible classes,  serving others, leading card ministries,  visiting the shut – ins, and more!
The world brings such negativity,  depression, hopelessness and despair.
GOD brings us LOVE, JOY, PEACE and HOPE that words cannot describe!
The scriptures cry out to us that we should REJOICE in the LORD ALWAYS…Philippians 4:4
Inline image5ce4a9eb-d130-8aa1-6452-8a68ef64b5b2@yahoo.com>”>
Rejoicing is a deep-rooted inexplicable joy that  in our hearts that comes from knowing God loves us and that we are saved through the blood of JESUS.

Following Jesus brings us to finding JOY & REJOICING in the deepest sense.  It means finding joy in our relationship with Him, in His promises, and in His presence.
In Nehemiah 8:10
Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Inline imagec6d948f2-c7ca-e2f6-d6d0-24f5a8e663b0@yahoo.com>”>
We are commanded to REJOICE because our HOPE is IN HIM!

1 Thessalonians 5:16

Rejoice always

Paul’s message to the Thessalonians, and to us,  is to exhort and comfort.   In 1 Thessalonians 5 he encourages them (and us) to daily live in a way that pleases God.   He wants us to be prepared for Christ’s return (vs 5 – 6) and he closes his “to do list” to implement in our daily living and within our relationships within the church.
1 Thessalonians 5: 4-23
“But you brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
You are all sons of the light and sons of the day.
We do not belong to the night or to the darkness,
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep,
but let us be alert and self-controlled.”

“Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you,
who are over you in the LORD and who admonish you.
Hold them in the highest regard in love, because of their work.
Live in peace with each other.

And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle,
encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

Be joyful always;

pray continually;

give thanks in all circumstances,

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Do not put out the Spirit’s fire;
do not treat prophecies with contempt.
Test everything,
Hold onto the good.
Avoid every kind of evil.”
May God himself, the God of peace,
sactify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
These exhortations are a great reminder to us all that our circumstances, and feelings, should never stop us from rejoicing,  praying,  giving thanks,  showing respect, or acting kindly.   As Christians we can rejoice in the midst of trials and suffering because of the example set by Jesus Christ for each of us.
Inline imageeb8e9011-9c03-88f7-cd1b-0869ac70b8c1@yahoo.com>”>
JOY is a FRUIT of the SPIRIT.  Galatians 5:22
If we are always filled with the Spirit, and the Spirit causes us to REJOICE, then it follows that we will REJOICE ALWAYS.
We can REJOICE always because of GOD’S SALVATION!
Inline image26b4da21-ad4b-bb11-3482-d1d0c5a44ff1@yahoo.com>”>
We can REJOICE ALWAYS , even in persecution, because we believe GOD’S PROMISES!
The apostles were arrested and flogged for preaching the name of Christ, but when they left the courtroom, they were “rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.  Acts 5:41
Matthew 5:11-12
Blessed are you when people insult you

persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.”
Thinking spiritually and staying focused on eternity will help us REJOICE ALWAYS!
We can REJOICE ALWAYS knowing the “JOY of the LORD is our STRENGTH.”  Nehemiah 8:10
We can REJOICE ALWAYS knowing “in all things, God works for the good of those who love him.”  Romans 8:28
We can REJOICE ALWAYS that ” God’s gift and HIS call are irrevocable. ”  Romans 11:29
We can REJOICE knowing that one day we will inhabit the New Jerusalem, we will see the LORD FACE TO FACE, and we will live with HIM FOREVER.
Revelation 22:1-5
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life,
as clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God
and of the Lamb
down the middle of the great street of the city.

On each side of the river stood the tree of life,
bearing twelve crops of fruit,
yielding its fruit every month.
And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
No longer will there be any curse.

The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city,
and his servants will serve him.
They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
There will be no more night.
They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun,
for the Lord God will give them light.
And they will reign for ever and ever.”

Our lives should reflect REJOICING ALWAYS and should be in what the LORD has done, continues to do, and will do in the future, regardless of our circumstances or feelings.     For our HOPE is in the LORD, for HE is our Rock and our Salvation!  This alone is enough reason to REJOICE ALWAYS!

Rejoice in the LORD always and again I say REJOICE!
Rejoice in the LORD always and again I say REJOICE!
REJOICE, REJOICE, and again I say REJOICE!
REJOICE, REJOICE, and again I say REJOICE!
Rejoice in the LORD always and again I say REJOICE!

With gladness sing,
Proclaim to all the earth,

from sin and doubt (from sin and doubt)
Oh praise His name, (Oh praise His name),
He is my King (He is my King)
a wonderful song (A wonderful song),

And some of these days in that fair land,
sing with the chorus grand,
He gave me a song (He gave me a song)
