The greatest of these is LOVE

2/14/2026

Good morning church family,

We just had to share this photo of Malachi, Lauryn and London fully adorned in Red and their Valentine's day attire!    Yes, they are sitting in a boat as they learn about Paul's missionary journeys on Sunday mornings!

GIVING THANKS & PRAISE:

Thanks be to God that the days are a LOT warmer!   We are in the 30's and it feels like a heat wave.

Anthony Katz is doing much better.   Thanks to all for your prayers.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

We give much thanks that Leo is home!  His pain levels are decreasing and thankfully he is status quo.  Praise God!   The infectious disease doctor who has been following his case for months, shared this with her team of residents…”I've been following this case for months…I need to say, God is so clearly watching out for this child.   She turned to the residents and said “you're not allowed to say that to patients, but I don't care, it's so evident.”    We serve an AWESOME and ALMIGHTY GOD who is carrying Leo through.   Thank you all for your prayers.   We will continue to pray without ceasing…

Carol Ligouri's granddaughter’s husband Dave asked for prayers for his mother Donna.  They found her on the floor unconscious. They operated yesterday and determined that she had a brain bleed. The drain got clogged so today they have to go back in and replace the drain. It’s very touch and go right now.  She is still unconscious. Prayers for healing and strength for Dave and Angela to get through this.

Mary Warren's brother had hip surgery and asked for prayers as there are issues with his healing.

COMING UP:

The next Tuesday Ladies bible study via zoom will be on February 17th at 9:30 am.  The new study will be on Lesson 6 in the book as Lisa and Mary Lou lead us in the book of Ezra.

This morning will be a Ladies bible study at the church building at 10:00.   Angela Weber  is leading the discussion on the topic of  “The Fragrance of Brokenness”  The scripture for this lesson is “Blessed are those who mourn”.     Thanks to Angela and all of the ladies who are doing a great job of leading these lessons.   It takes much time to prepare these lessons and it has been a great study.

Kevon Turner is teaching the Young Adults on Sunday mornings 12:30 – 1:30 right after worship in our fellowship hall for the next 7 weeks.  The topics vary every Sunday. Thanks to Kevon for leading this study!

 “The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim his handiwork.”  Psalm 19:1

The glass tree frog is a tiny frog approximately 1 inch long which lives in rainforests and mountainous forests across Central and South America.  From the top, they blend completely in with their environment, although on their under-side, they are translucent.    When you look at a glass tree frog's belly, you can see right inside its body.  You can see its heart beating or food passing through its digestive system. Every breath and beat of its heart reveals God's incredible beauty and design.
This tiny frog can make it's body become transparent, even it's heart disappears and scientists still can't fully explain it!

The glass tree frog has one of the strangest abilities in nature:  when it sleeps, its entire body turns transparent even its heart disappears.

Scientists found it hides almost all its red blood cells inside its liver, basically entering “stealth mode.” No other animal does this, and nobody fully understands how it survives without clotting or collapsing. You can literally look straight through it like a drop of water.

 Our God is simply AWESOME!

We are having some technical challenges with the computer email which is generated each week.   We apologize that somehow the scriptural references are removed once the email is sent.   Thank you for your patience while we figure out what the glitch is.   Hopefully this one will come through ok!

The Bible is God's love letter to mankind.  It tells us about God the Father, Jesus the Son,  the Holy Spirit and how much we are loved!

In the book of Ephesians, the apostle Paul expresses his desire and prayer for the believers in Ephesus. Part of what he prays for is in Ephesians 3:17-19…

“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you…may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

The  Greek word translated as “comprehend” or “understand” implies more than a mental understanding.  It literally means to take hold of something and make it one's own.   In order for the Ephesian Christians to truly understand the “love that surpasses knowledge” , they needed to go beyond hearsay.
1 John 3:16-18
“This is how we know what love is;
Jesus Christ lied down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth
In the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we read about the crucifixion of Jesus.   God's precious gift to mankind.
Jesus was put to death by being nailed to a cross.   He was stripped of His clothing and offered vinegar mixed with myrrh or gall.   He was hung between two convicted thieves and was crucified .  The soldiers affixed a sign to the top of the cross stating “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews”.  Then they divided up His garments among themselves and cast lots for his robe.   A soldier pierced His side with a spear to be certain that he had died, then blood and water gushed from the wound.
1 John 4:7
“Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
This is love:  not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us”
1 Corinthians 13 provides us with the complete definition of LOVE.
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
If I give all I posses to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, out is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
where there are tongues, they will be stilled;
where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child.
When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror;
then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these things remain, faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.”
KEEP SINGING:
BECAUSE HE LOVED ME SO

Why did my Savior come to earth
And to the humble go?
Why did He choose a lowly birth,
Because He loved me so.
He loved me so,
He loved me so,
He gave His precious life for me,
Because He loved me so
Why did He drink the bitter cup
Of sorrow, pain and woe?
Why on the cross be lifted up?
Because He loved me so.
He loved , (He loved)
He loved me so,
He loved (He loved),
He loved me so,
He gave His precious life for me,
Because He loved me so.
Til Jesus comes I’ll sing His praise
And then to glory go,
And live with Him through endless days,
Because He loved me so.
He loves ( He loves)
He loves me so
He loves (He loves)
He loves me so!
He gave His precious life for me
Because He loves me so!
HOW DEEP THE FATHER'S LOVE FOR US

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.

How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ , His death and resurrection.

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.

To God be the glory great things He hath done!
