TIDAL RIVER CHRISTIAN CAMP
Information regarding TRCC is now available. The weeks for camp are:

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1
Doves are gentle birds. There are over 300 dove species all over the world. Doves and pigeons fall under the same family.
Doves produce soft and melodic cooing sounds that are audible through trees. This unique call is their primary communication.
Doves do not migrate and are expert master navigators. they learn to map their surroundings and identify critical landmarks during each journey. They can sense the Earth's magnetic fields and use the sun as their GPS.
Doves mate for life and form lifelong relationships with their mates. They even mourn their partner's death (hence the name 'mourning dove').
The journey of a baby dove, known as a squab, from birth to adulthood happens rapidly. Squabs are born blind and featherless, relying on their parents for warmth and food.
All four Gospel accounts refer to the baptism of Jesus by John at the Jordan River. Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32. Luke said, “And the Holy Spirit came down in a bodily shape, like a dove on Him.”
Because the Holy Spirit is just that – Spirit – He is not visible to us. Yet after Jesus' baptism the Holy Spirit took on a visible appearance . The dove is an emblem of purity and harmlessness. Matthew 10:16
The form of the dove at Jesus' baptism signified that the Spirit with which Jesus was endowed was one of holiness and innocence.
Another biblical account involving the dove comes from the account of the Flood and Noah's ark in Genesis 6-8. When the earth had been covered with water for some time, Noah wanted to check to see if there was dry land anywhere, so he sent out a dove from the ark; the dove came back with an olive branch in her beak – Genesis 8:11. Since that time, the olive branch has been a symbol of peace. The story of Noah's dove tells us that God declared peace with mankind after the Flood had purged the earth of its wickedness. The dove represented His Spirit bringing the good news of the reconciliation of God and man. This being a temporary reconciliation because lasting spiritual reconciliation with God can only come through Jesus Christ.
The olive branch primarily signifies peace, reconciliation, and the renewal of life. It symbolizes hope and God's covenant of faithfulness representing a new beginning and the restoration of harmony between God and humanity.
The prophet Isaiah prophesied the coming Messiah approximately 700 years before Jesus' birth, ministry and death. Isaiah declared the Messiah would be named Immanuel…”God with us“, a child who is also called “The mighty God, the everlasting Father“.
Isaiah also provides detailed predictions of the Messiah as a “suffering servant” who would be despised, rejected, and “stricken for the transgression of his people.”
Isaiah spoke about a ruler from the lineage of David who would bring light, peace, and justice as well as heal the deaf, lame and blind. All of Isaiah 53 shares the anguish of His soul (verse 11), yet He saw it and was satisfied.
Isaiah 53:5
“But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and by his wounds we are healed.“
Between the Old Testament and the New Testament, God did not speak and no scripture was written.
The 400 years of silence began with the warning from the book of Malachi 4:5-6
“Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet
before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD.
He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers,
so that I will not come and
smite the land with a curse.”
Fast forward to the New Testament John, who was known as the disciple that Jesus loved, wrote the whole story of how Jesus came.
John 1:1
John 1: 3
“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness but the darkness has not understood it.”
John 1:14
The Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory,
the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth.”
Thank God for His Word who became flesh!
Philippians 2:8
“He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!“
Romans 5:8
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The book of Matthew shares the genealogy of Jesus, the birth and death of Jesus, the Resurrection, and the Great commission. For brevity sake, we will include some verses from chapter 27 which shares the account of His death.
Matthew 27:11
“Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied.
“When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, “Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”
But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge – the great amazement of the governor.“
Matthew 27:27
“Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.
They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.
Matthew 27:32
“As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.
They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull“). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”
In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, “I am the Son of God.” In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
verse 45
“From the sixth hour, until the ninth hour, darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtha-ni?” – which means,
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
“When some of those standing there heard this they said, “He's calling Elijah.”
“Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him.”
“And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.”
“At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”
verse 64
“When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God.“
As we read in Ecclesiastes 3:11..”People cannot fully fathom the entirety of His work from beginning to end.”
PRAISE GOD for His mercy and grace! John 3:16
God's Riches at Christ's expense.
PRAISE GOD for our Savior, the precious and Holy Lamb of God.
1 Peter 2:21-24
“For to this you have been called, because christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mount.
When he was reviled, he did not revile in return;
when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
By his wounds you have been healed.”
When I survey the Wondrous Cross
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it LORD, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ, my LORD;
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See, from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down;
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my should, my life, my all.
Revelation 7:16-17
“They shall hunger no more,
neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne
will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
To GOD be the glory, great things HE has done!
In Him,
Bruce & Paula
