Thanks to Nadine for leading the first Ladies’ Saturday Bible study last Saturday.
Thanks to Derin & Kristen for leading the Families with Young Children events. Here are some pictures of last Saturday’s fun! They had hotdogs, and made their own sundaes with lots of toppings. Be sure to come to future events with your children or grand-children.
  
 
THE BARNABAS PROJECT – Card ministry
Thanks to Lisa Saracino who will be taking over the Barnabas Project which is a card ministry we’ve had for many years. Unfortunately the original list of members for this group was lost, so please let Lisa know if you would like to be included in this ministry.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
Nadine Keller’s shoulder surgery has been postponed for two weeks so she can have the surgery at the hospital (not at the outpatient center). Thanks to all who have signed up to bring food which is now on hold. We will keep praying and giving thanks for God’s timing is perfect.
Prayers for Donna Stanley who had back surgery on Wednesday. All went well, we pray for her complete healing.
Our close friend Adeline Hazard was slated to have a double lung transplant today, but she received a call that the surgeons feel the donor lungs are not suitable. Thank you for your prayers for her as she waits on God’s timing.
Tracie Walkup asked for prayers for a 3 year old little girl named Vivie Chavez who has an auto immune illness and her platelets have dropped. She is currently at Yale.
Tammie Carey is leading a terrific effort in partnering to support Newborns and families at Griffin Childbirth Center with our congregation. ” Bringing a new life into the world is a moment of intense JOY, but for many expectant mothers and growing families in our local community, it can also bring significant financial stress.
We have the opportunity to ensure that every mother leaving the center has the essential supplies needed to care for herself and her newborn during the critical early days of their birth. They are putting together support packages for families in financial need. They are currently collecting donations for the following new, unused items:
For BABY:
Onesies, caps, socks, and scratch mittens, sleep sacks, swaddles, receiving blankets, and diaper bags.
Nursing & Postpartum care for Mom:
Nursing bras, nursing pads, nursing pillows and pillow covers, breast milk storage bags, lactation tea, lanolin nipple cream, diaper cream and lip balm, maternity pads and postpartum ice packs.
General Support:
Gift cards (e.g. Target, Walmart, or Grocery stores to help parents purchase diapers or extra supplies).
Note: As their facility supports breast feeding, bottles and pacifiers are not items that are permitted. If you would rather donate funds to this effort, Tammie Carey will accept your donation and shop on your behalf to add to the collected items. “

COLLEGE CARE BAGS
It has been our tradition every Fall to put together College Care bags. We have 8 students attending college and would like to do a few more for others who are former members away at college. The list of items is on the table in the auditorium and there is a bin in the foyer for the supplies. Please remember a few Gluten Free snacks as well. The items need to be in by Sunday October 3rd.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Many events are happening over the next few months…all LORD WILLING and with Praise and Glory to God.
Ron has started a bible study of the Gospel of John on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. This book is foundational to the Christian faith and a great study for everyone! If you are unsure as to how to share God’s Word with someone, please invite them to join this study.
The TUESDAY Ladies’ bible study went well this past week. Anyone interested in joining this Tuesday class which begins at 9:30 a.m. are welcomed. They are using Casandra Martin’s book – Women Opening the Word – “The ABC’S of a Godly Heart”. The books can be ordered on-line individually. Please see Lisa or Nadine if you have any questions.
Jay Repecko will be continuing the Discipleship class Today September 12th at the building.

Saturday October 10th at 10:00 a.m. Ladies Bible Study at the church building. The lesson on “The Fragrance of Peace” will be lead by Debbie Froehlich. We will be putting together the College Care bags at this time.
Our annual TRUNK or TREAT will be held on October 24th at 6:00 p.m. Set up will begin at 5:00 p.m.

‘In the beginning,
God created the heavens and the earth.“
In our humanness we become consumed with our day to day routines and trials. Yet, God has created for us a magnificent planet to explore and learn about!
The universe which God has created contains billions of famous and named galaxies starting with our own MILKY WAY.
The Milky Way can be seen visibly from Earth.
Galaxies are vast systems of stars, gas, dust and dark matter bound together by gravity in our solar system.
Gazing at the dark night sky, we see stars scattered in all directions and can only be in awe of our Great God.
Psalm 19:1
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.“
Psalm 104:2
“The LORD wraps himself in light
as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent
and lays the beams of His upper chambers
on their waters.“
God has created the vast sky and universe as easily as a person pitches a tent, or hangs a curtain.
The entire visible universe is but a silent witness to God’s majesty.

“As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sand of the sea cannot be measured...”
God’s Word reflects the uncountable nature of the stars to illustrate vastness long before modern astronomy counted billions of galaxies.
Man has studied the stars since the beginning of time. Long before written history, Paleolithic and Neolithic communities built stone structures and lunar-solar markers to track solstices and bright stars. Ancient civilizations like the Sumerians and Babylonians documented planetary movements and eclipse cycles thousands of years ago.
With the introduction of large telescopes like The Hubbell, and the James Webb Telescopes, and SUPER Space cameras, astronomers realized (just 100 years ago), that our galaxy is just one out of seemingly infinite number of clumps of stars orbiting each other and held together by a force of gravity. These images enables humanity to witness countless amazing sites here on Earth. These telescopes have contributed immensely to our understanding of the solar system. A window which brings us up close to our CREATOR. The images are breathtaking.
The distances between stars inside a galaxy is typically a few lightyears, distances between galaxies are measured in millions of lightyears. Between galaxies, there is basically nothing – around 1 atom per cubic meter.
Man has determined that there are different types of Galaxies.
The smallest galaxies host a few million stars, while the largest comprise trillions. The Milky Way, which can be considered a typical galaxy, contains a few hundred billion stars.

Scientists use numbers and letters from official star catalogues instead of common names. Messier catalogue (M) lists bright deep-sky objects like M81 or M101. New General Catalogue (NGC) is a comprehensive list tracking thousands of nebulae and galaxies. Man has spent many years trying to explore this vast universe created by YHWH who has named and placed every star.
Andromeda Galaxy (M 31) is the closest massive spiral galaxy to the Milky Way, spanning over 220,000 light-years across.
TRIANGULUM GALAXY (M33)
The third-largest member of our Local Group, is known for its distance, face-on spiral structure

God revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3:14. “I AM WHO I AM.”
Our Awesome powerful God commanded the cosmos into existence, from nothing.

He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;
he puts the deeps in storehouses.

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

The more deeply we look at the universe, the more it becomes unsearchably complex, mysterious and exquisite.
Psalm 8:3

the moon and the stars which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?”
There are 8.13 billion people in the world. God knows each person by name.
We are such insignificant beings, yet He makes us something by adopting us through the blood of Christ. Ephesians 1:5
How can we not be excited about sharing the good news of JESUS CHRIST with the world?
The Apostle Paul shares in Romans chapter 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
