Psalms of Praise

5/23/2026

Good morning church family,

GIVING THANKS & PRAISE:

Thanks to Jay for hosting the Young Adults last week.   They had a great food, great fellowship and all around great time!

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and as we prepare to celebrate what has become the traditional start of summer, it is important to pause and reflect on remembering those service members who have died fighting for our country.

May we give thanks to all who are currently serving in our military.

May we give thanks to God for all who sacrificed their lives and died while fighting for our freedom here in the United States of America.

Freedom is not free.

Thanks be to God for our eternal salvation in Christ Jesus.   John 3:16

TIDAL RIVER CHRISTIAN CAMP

Information regarding TRCC is now available.   The weeks for camp are:

Nehemiah 5:5-6
Blessed be your glorious name,
and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise.
You alone are the LORD,
You made the heavens, even the highest heavens,
and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it,
the seas and all that is in them.
You give life to everything,
and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”
The leaf sheep is an ocean cutie found in Southeast Asia!   It is nicknamed for its sheep-like appearance and grazing habits.   The leaf sheep is a sea slug found across the Indo-Pacific.  It is one of the few animals that can perform photosynthesis, sucking up chloroplasts from algae in a process called kleptoplasty.   This provides nutrition as well as giving the leaf sheep its bright green color.
The leaf sheep stores the chloroplasts in its own body, which enables it to soak up sunlight and transform it into energy.
Psalm 148:7
“Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths.”

The Psalms of Praise extol the virtue and power of the Lord.  The God of Israel is praised for His handiwork in nature, the deliverance of His people, and His wonderful attributes such as lovingkindness and patience.  Psalms of Praise exalt GOD's Holiness, faithfulness, love and His magnificent works in creation, protection, and salvation.
Psalm 19:1-2
Psalm 150:6
Psalm 89:5
Psalm 148:3
Psalm 18:10
Psalm 111:9
Psalm 89:13-14
Psalm 130:7
Ephesians 1:12

Our songs should reflect our grateful PRAISE.
Psalm 147 begins and ends with the Hebrew word ' hallelujah'
which means “Praise the Lord
Hallelu:  Meaning to praise, adore or boast joyfully.
Yah:   A shortened, sacred form of Yahweh, the Name of God
Psalm 147
Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
How pleasant and fitting to praise him!”
The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel;
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars and and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power;  his understanding has no limit.
The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
make music to our God on the harp.
He covers the sky with clouds;
he supplies the earth with rain  and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
He strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your people within you.
He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
He sends his command to the earth;  his word runs swiftly.
He spreads the snow like wool  and scatters the frost like ashes.
He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast? He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.
He has done this for no other nation;
they do not know his laws.
Praise the Lord.”
Psalm 8
“LORD, our Lord,
  how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
  in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
  you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
  to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
   the work of your fingers,
the moon and stars,
   which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
 human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
   and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
   all flocks and herds,
  and the animals of the wild,
    the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
LORD,  our Lord,
  how majestic is your name in all the earth!

The word Hallelujah in Revelation 19 is used in heaven, where a great multitude has gathered before the throne in the immediate presence of God Himself.    This is the wedding supper of the Lamb.  The enemies of God have been overthrown, and the gospel has triumphed.  In a victory celebration, all heaven renders praise, a song of thanksgiving uttered by all holy beings united.   This glorious outpouring of praise are God's righteous victory over His enemies as in Revelation 19:1-3,  His sovereignty as noted in verses 4-6,  and His eternal communion with His people, verse 7.     The sound of the outpouring of praise and worship is so overwhelming that the apostle John can only describe it in verse 6  “like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder.Hallelujah, for the Lord God omnipotent reigns!”

PRAISE HIM & KEEP SINGING:
Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah!

Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
from the heavens praise his name;
praise Jehovah in the highest,
all his angels, praise proclaim.
All his hosts, together praise him,
sun and moon and stars on high;
Praise Him, O ye heaven's of heavens,
and ye floods above the sky.
Let them praises give Jehovah,
for His name alone is high,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory is exalted,
far above the earth and sky.
Let them praises give Jehovah,
they were made at His command;
them forever He established,
His decree shall ever stand.
From the earth O praise Jehovah,
all you seas, you dragons all,
fire and hail and snow and vapors,
stormy winds that hear His call.
Let them praises give Jehovah,
for His name alone is high,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory is exalted,
far above the earth and sky.
All ye fruitful trees and cedars,
all ye hills and mountains high,
creeping things and beasts and cattle,
birds that in the heavens fly,
kings of earth and all ye people,
princes great, earths' judges all,
praise His name, young men and maidens,
aged men and children small.
Let them praises give Jehovah,
for His name alone is high,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory, is exalted,
and His glory is exalted,
far above the earth and sky.
