Thanks be to God that Sam Cotte is home and doing well. Praise God!
We give thanks to God that Andrew Langalis found the job he was looking for! Andrew will be working in NYC and so far it is going well. Giving God much thanks! He has promised to stay in touch and visit when he is able. We will miss you Andrew!
We were privileged to spend last Saturday with the Young Adults. JOY prevailed and there was lots of laughter as we toured the Beardsley Zoo.
 
A SPECIAL THANKS to Mary Lou Saracino who has lead our card ministry called ‘The Barnabas Project’ for many years. She has shined her light in a beautiful way by helping encourage so many people all through the years! We are beyond grateful for Mary Lou’s leading this wonderful effort which she is now passing on to Lisa Saracino. Lisa will be the new contact for the Barnabas Project. We are grateful to them both for their servants hearts. Thanks to Lisa for taking this on and continuing this good work. You both are true blessings to this congregation.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Devlal Moktan is having neck fusion surgery on Tuesday. Our prayers will be with the doctors and Brother Dev for all to go well.
Please pray for those affected by the terrible flooding in Nepal. Brother Devlal shared that Sister Nisha Moktan’s family lost everything. Entire houses and their belongings. He will keep us posted on their needs. Below is a QR Code link to the Church of Christ Asian mission which Devlal established many years ago. Donations can be made directly to the mission if you’d like to contribute to the disaster relief efforts. You can mention in a notation if you want your donation to be used in a specific area. Tracie Robertson’s 2 year old cousin Eloise Wallace is responding to the steroid treatments. Thanks to all for your prayers. God is so good! Eloise’s Mother had a baby on top of everything. Thankfully all is well and Eloise is a big sister!

Sister Pamela Pimpton requested prayers for Camellia Horn who had cancer surgery yesterday.
Our Sister Rosalind Thomas requested prayers for her family who is going through difficult times. Rosalind is headed to Grenada to be with her Mother and family during this difficult time.
Our prayers continue for upcoming surgeries for Nadine Keller on September 10th, and Randy Springer who is waiting on a surgery date in September.
Tammie Carey is leading a terrific effort in partnering to support Newborns and families at Griffin Childbirth Center with our congregation. ” Bringing a new life into the world is a moment of intense JOY, but for many expectant mothers and growing families in our local community, it can also bring significant financial stress.
We have the opportunity to ensure that every mother leaving the center has the essential supplies needed to care for herself and her newborn during the critical early days of their birth. They are putting together support packages for families in financial need. They are currently collecting donations for the following new, unused items:
For BABY:
Onesies, caps, socks, and scratch mittens, sleep sacks, swaddles, receiving blankets, and diaper bags.
Nursing & Postpartum care for Mom:
Nursing bras, nursing pads, nursing pillows and pillow covers, breast milk storage bags, lactation tea, lanolin nipple cream, diaper cream and lip balm, maternity pads and postpartum ice packs.
General Support:
Gift cards (e.g. Target, Walmart, or Grocery stores to help parents purchase diapers or extra supplies).
Note: As their facility supports breast feeding, bottles and pacifiers are not items that are permitted. If you would rather donate funds to this effort, Tammie Carey will accept your donation and shop on your behalf to add to the collected items. “

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Ron has started a bible study of the Gospel of John on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. This book is foundational to the Christian faith and a great study for everyone! If you are unsure as to how to share God’s Word with someone, please invite them to join this study.

FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN event:
Derin & Kristen Wilson are having a “BACK TO SCHOOL FUN DAY” on September 5th at 3:00 p.m. Please bring a towel and HAVE FUN!
Also on September 5th will be the first SATURDAY Ladies Bible study at the building at 10:00 a.m. Nadine Keller will lead the study as we finish up the series by Casandra Martin “The Aroma of Christ”, which will take us through to December.
The TUESDAY Ladies’ bible study will begin on September 8th. They will be using Casandra Martin’s book – Women Opening the Word – “The ABC’S of a Godly Heart”. The books can be ordered on-line individually. Please see Lisa or Nadine if anhave questions.
Jay Repecko will be teaching a Discipleship class on September 11th and 12th. Please sign up on the list posted if you are able to come.

God in all of His glory has created the animal kingdom for us to en-joy!

The Greek word for JOY is chara.
JOY is the second of the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23.
We have JOY because of God’s grace.
Sometimes our JOY can be so great it is inexpressible.
1 Peter 1:8
“Though you have not seen him, you love him;
and even though you do not see him now,
you believe in him and are filled with an
inexpressible and glorious joy,
for you are receiving the end result of your faith,
the salvation of your souls.”
Our greatest reason to be joyful is that God desires all to be saved. Luke 15:7
Our Creator desires that we spend eternity with HIM. Nothing is better than this.
Philippians 2:2
“Make my joy complete having the same love, by being like-minded, being one in Spirit and of one mind.“
Processing JOY is a choice. We choose whether to value God’s presence, promises and work in our lives, and find joy or not.
Hebrews 10:34
“You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.”
God opens our eyes to His grace and fills us with JOY!
Romans 15:13
“May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit“
No matter what we endure in this life, we can find strength & JOY in the LORD.
For the LORD is our strength and our shield.
Our Fellowship with God and His Son Jesus Christ is the only thing that can make our JOY complete.
May our lives be filled with JOY INEXPLICABLE that we cannot help but talk about JESUS with others, reflecting His love, mercy and grace.

REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS
What brings you joy? Don’t answer too quickly. Let the question settle in. Explore the landscape of your heart. Look back over the last few days. Close your eyes and let it wash over you. What brings you joy?
Joy is different than happiness. Happiness is good, but it is circumstantial. If things go our way, if everything works out, if something positive happens, we are happy. If our circumstances go awry, our level of happiness diminishes. Joy runs deeper. Joy isn’t grounded in circumstances, but in our connection to God. His presence in our lives is what fuels the joy that allows us to experience contentment, confidence, and peace in the midst of whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
As Isaiah announces the coming of the Messiah, he tells us that one of the primary signposts of His arrival will be an explosion of joy. Joy will fill the hearts of those who belong to Him, who follow Him, who open their hearts to His presence and power.
“You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy. Oh, they’re so glad in your presence! Festival joy! The joy of great celebration, sharing rich gifts and warm greetings.” – Isaiah 9:3 (The Message)
My Jesus Resolution today is to embrace joy. Joy has to be chosen because living in His presence is always a choice. It is easy to be comfortable with happiness. Joy requires digging deeper, listening more closely, seeing with eyes alert to His presence, and developing a quiet trust in His goodness. Every time I see the word joy , I am going to remember that the true source of joy is found in the Savior who came to give Himself as a gift to the world.
